Being someone who earned my living as a chemist some years ago this got me thinking . I know of no way to limit shelf life of the powder or primer ( really the
only components that could be altered ) that would be reliable enough to give a time limit . To you lawyers out there , would it be...
Oh heck !!! My son is moving to Chicago ( from the U.K. ) next year , he was going to get some firearms for me to use when I visit . On a previous post you all gave some advice on how to apply for a FOID ,I just wonder if they can be applied for from the U.K. as I could not wait around for many...
isp2605 , when someone asks a question they are asking for the practical everyday experiences of responders ,if they wanted a legal opinion they would ask a lawyer . I know the situation in the U.K. and presented it . I am so anonymous that the poster could easily contact me by loking at my...
To answer your question , it is perfectly legal ,from the U.K. side , to send these items to Scotland ( where Cumnock is ) . They are not classed as firearm parts but as accessories . They are sold without problem by E-Bay here .
Many thanks for this info. I will follow up on all of the advice and links . The Chicago laws sound tougher than the ones that we have here in the U.K. and I thought that was impossible , guess I was wrong :)
My son's girlfriend lives in Bucktown , Chicago , can she buy and keep a shotgun
in her appartment ? If so how ? I have trawled through the gun law web sites ,howevever the Chicago laws leave me puzzled . Please help .
I keep approx. 700 - 1000 rounds of the calibers that I shoot , so that adds up to some 20,000 rounds metallic and 6,000 shotshells . Think that those quantities are about right .:)
If you want the strict ethical answer rather than the emotional then according to philosphical ethics it is wrong to shoot .
Under pragmatic ethics....drill the bum .
Reading Guns & Ammo in a coffee shop and at next table four middle aged ladies
chatting ,they looked over at me saying " thank heavens someones prepared , we know were to come when the s..t hits the fan ." . For the first time in awhile I was speechless , goes to show you can never judge a book...
Fiocchi .22 ammo
I have used this ammo extensively in revolver and non-auto rifles , being European ammo it is only going at 1100fps. not enough to cycle autos , which require about 1300fps . I had not noticed it to be dirty though .
How long does ammo stay good for ?
I am still useing .303 ammo from 1952 , .38spl., 9mm., 12ga. reloads from 1970 and they still shoot well . It all depends on the conditions that they were kept in , cool with low humidity is best .
American Firearms site
Thanks Kelly J , what a great site . Virtualy everything one needs in reloading plus law enforcement and all the other links , it will keep this old Brit busy for quiet a while .:D .
Un-named guns.
I bought , last week , a Russian side by side 12bore hammer shotgun , there was plenty of numbers on the thing but not a letter either english or cyrillic . I could only tell that it was Russian by the proof marks ,this one is a real mystery .
Most accurate powder
After trying most of the U.S. and European powders the most accurate line of powders are those made by Vectan . They are easily metered , clean burning and give excellent groups on target , and somehow the recoil seems to be more polite .
Red dot sights
I use an Aimpoint red dot sight on a 44mag. Winchester Trapper and lousey shot that I am , I can be right on the money . The Aimpoint is not the cheapest but it does the job ie. put the dot on the target and it's done .
