Well I just got the same model in stainless 270 and it has a Remington R3 recoil pad. They are all suppose to have the R3 recoil pad unless someone took it off and put it a different one on. I probably didn't help, but thats all I know.

Great choice Magwa45. I got the same thing but in stainless and love it. The .270 is a great caliber for many different animals to hunt.

I just got a Remington SPS Stainless .270 and love it. If you are wanting a bolt-action than that is what I think you should get. Online They are more expensive online. I got mine for about $520 at a local gun shop.

I would definateley go with the Ruger. They are one of the best rifles there is.

I have did some research because I am about to get one myself, and the best hunting rifle i think is the 300 WSM. It has a big recoil, though. Other than the recoil it is awesome. Too much recoil for me though.
