I had a similar problem, which also included the trigger following the slide, when the slide was released. I bought new internals from Nowlin. Also, when I measured the new disconnector to the old disconnector's length, the new one was 0.012" longer.

The problem was the grips I had just put on the gun. The Target hammer wasn't able to cock back far enough to catch the notch and hold the trigger. Funny how the obvious things aren't checked first. ;)
