I hate the small primer 45 brass. They drive me nuts. The reason is, I have to go through all my 45 brass now and pick them out.
So I load them and keep them in my trunk until I see one of the clubs 3 hated brass scroungers show up.
Then I break it out, shoot it and walk out for a minute...
I had that problem with my Hornaday and found that it was the primer hose.
The hose was so dirty that the old primers were backing up and getting stuck under the shell plate.
I cleaned it out with a can of compressed air.
I've been reloading nothing but 210 gr cast with 7grs of Unique for years with a slight roll crimp.
If I was reloading a heavier load I would increase the roll crimp.
A friend of mine who's in his late 80's has one on the wall in his living room. It is the nicest one I've ever seen. It's displayed with the bayonet and the wood is fantastic, light blond with out a mark on it. Complete matching numbers with a perfect mum. He told me He got it early in the war...
I just started using a 100 Winchester and then a 100 Wolf to see if I could tell the difference when seating them.
To be honest I can't tell the difference and I also can't see a difference in them at the range.
The Wolf is a lot cheaper by almost $10.00 a 1000 and easier to find so I'll...
I bought a 4 inch 657 41 mag in 1984. It's not a Mountain gun and it was one of a run of 1500 that came with a full barrel.
I carried it for years in shoulder holster with 240gr Sliver tips as a back up. I use to get a little ribbing about carrying it until one day We were all at the range...
I have 3 of them. I got the 108282 first about 4 years ago and it has been flawless in it's performance.
Then a guy swapped me a brand new 108284 for a Model 27-3 and it's also been flawless in it's performance.
A gun shop owner I know real good, offered me a real good deal [$750] on a...
I load a lot of 41 mag. Usally I use Penn 210gr or a Berry 210gr. I really like using Unique for 41mag.
If I was loading a 230gr Keith bullet I would use 8grs of Unique.
I told the wife I needed another safe and here's the conversation..
Her..You already have 3 safes!!! Do you have any idea how much you charged so far on your credit card this year.
Me... No, but I bet you do.
Her...$7000.00 so far this year and I can't even guess how much in cash...
I had a loose primer get under the shell plate. It went off and flew across the room and buried it self in to the wall.
I almost fell backwards off my stool..
I got a new set of 32-20 dies from Hornady and the sizing die is suppose to also expand the mouth to seat bullets.
Is it possibile to do this using 115 Grain Round Nose Flat Point Bevel Base with a Standard Sizing of .313...
Or would I be better off buying a belling die like a 32 long.
Get the Hornady LnL it's a 5 hole press and it's real fast to change primers, powder charges and calibers.
I reload a hour a night on mine and so far this month knocked out 2000 45's, 1000 41mags and a couple of 1000 of 38's and 357's.
It's a real easy press to get use too.
I've used S&W for repairs alot and they do great work. But if you have a good gunsmith close by that's where I would go.
Most gunsmiths are cheaper and faster than you would think and it won't hurt to get to know one in person..
