Big difference in weight between a 10/22 and an old military rifle like the Garand. I have so much stuff on my M4gery I have a 1.5" sling on it. Go with what your comfortable with.

I have some Korean AK mags that are parkerized light grey. I haven't used them yet. I notice they have two layers of sheet metal for the feedlips. Anyone experirnce problems with these?

Everyone has some great tip or home magic trick, but it's really very simple. Just clean with a BP solvent. You can't get much more corrosive than blackpowder.
