How to Solve the Ammo Crisis

^^ What he said. Don't feed the price gougers! WE, the gun owners, are the cause of the current ammo shortage and high prices. We have no one to blame but ourselves. Next time you buy ammo, leave some for the next guy in line. I hear people bragging all the time about how they "bought all the...

H.R. 2159 has been introduced - Are you a "terrorist"?

What will they think of next? I, for one, am a veteran that is pro-life and opposed to granting amnesty to illegal immigrants. According to the recent DHS bulletins, that makes me a suspected "extremist" (i.e. "terrorist") on all three counts. How many other gun owners fit this description...

I see now why MIM parts suck...

Here are pics. You can see the small divot on the rebound slide where the protrusion used to be (inside yellow circle). The hammer block sure looks like it's cast to me, as evidenced by the line running down the middle. I'm surprised to see there haven't been too many responses to this thread...

I see now why MIM parts suck...

Last week, I picked up a nice looking S&W Model 60-9 for a good price. The gun was in ~ 98% condition and tight in all the right places. I put about 50 rounds through it, half of those being magnums. Speaking of which, I forgot how much fun a short-barreled .357 can be :D Anyway, while cleaning...

    Volunteer LEO

There was another thread about this very subject a few days ago... Here it is: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=439240 Good luck if you decide to pursue it. If you just want to get a taste of what being a LEO is like, I would suggest contacting a local agency and inquiring if they...

    Becoming "The Man"

I was an auxiliary (reserve) officer on a small town PD for about 3 years when I lived up north. Didn't get paid a dime but loved every minute of it. Most agencies give their reserves full arrest powers and allow them to do everything the regular guys do. The down side to that is you have to get...

Show us a picture of your reloading bench

That is one heck of an ammo factory! Reminds me I need to buy more components :D

My lord I'm out of shape.

I know exactly what you mean about the coffee, MC ;) I'm turning 30 in a few weeks and, although I don't feel much older or out of shape, have made a resolution to at the very least maintain (if not improve) my physical condition. If you don't mind me asking, whereabouts were you hunting and...

Guns stolen from 2 police cars parked 3 blocks apart

I learned the hard way not to leave guns unattended in vehicles. Came out to go to work one morning and my 3 month old truck was gone. It was eventually recovered, but the Glock that lived in the center console never came back. I just hope it's not being used to commit other crimes. Now wherever...

    528 yard muzzleloader kill video

Nice shot! I don't see how it could have been much cleaner. Earlier this year, I shot a hog dead center in the chest with a 30-06 from 75 yards away, and she still tried to get up and run several times... Game animals take time to bleed out and expire just like any other living thing. The only...

Two next door neighbor's home broken in

The bottom line here is, if a criminal wants what you have bad enough, they will find a way to get it. The best approach to theft prevention and physical security is to create several "layers" of defenses. You can't just do one or two things (i.e. reinforce doors/windows or get an alarm) and...

Two next door neighbor's home broken in

Sorry to hear about this my friend! Lock your stuff up tight and keep an eye out. Maybe even consider taking some of your valuables to a secure/trusted place for safekeeping. Find or make up some official-looking signs that say "video surveillance in progress", or something like that, and stick...

Lee Classic Turret or Hornaday LML AP? Opinions appreciated.

The Lee Classic Turret can be used as a single stage press by simply removing the auto-indexing rod. I've used mine in both modes and it works great either way. The Safety Prime system works great for pistol cases. I can't attest to rifle though, because I prime those by hand as part of my...

How about a "Million Gunowners March"?

Great idea, but I have a feeling that any type of gun-related protest near capitol hill would be treated as a riot and dealt with accordingly. Lots of Texans tried to organize a gathering to protest the SPP (Security Prosperity Partnership) meeting, otherwise known as the NAU summit, in New...

    Rem. 742 problem

There are a lot of variables in your description of the problem. How far away are you shooting? If it's 100 yards, try moving in to 50 (or 50 to 25, etc...). Is this gun scoped or are you using iron sights? If there's an optic involved, I would check those parts first (bad scope or loose...

    Swift brand optics?

In the last two weeks, I've picked up 2 new rifles. So now I'm looking for good deals on optics. I currently own Burris (my favorite), Simmons, and BSA, and would like to get something equal or better in quality than what I have now. Lately I've been looking at Nikon, Leupold, Vortex and a few...

    Help with Zero's

I bought a thousand Zero 158 grain JSP's awhile back and they are great bullets. As long as you're not loading near max, any published data for that profile will work fine. My .38 "general purpose" load is 3.5 - 3.8 grains of Titegroup with CCI primer and OAL of 1.4370".
