    Tipping Pheasant Hunt Guide

Kind of a parallel. I just booked my first guided hunt. It is for goose for three hunters about 700 bucks total. What is appropriate for that hunt seeing as I have already laid out a substantial dolllar figure. I know it is customary to tip but is there a general percentage used in the guided...

    Help finding a rifle

EricF Ever hear of Midway? No problems reloading for .223 just a few clicks and a couple of days later the UPS man drops it on the porch. (He gave up ringing the doorbell and having to deal with the 110 pound German Shepard.) But I would agree a .243 makes more sense and a little more...

To flute or not to flute? That is the question.

From what I have always been told you flute a barrel for weight considerations first then the increase in surface area helps cooling ( by how much is for the engineers to compute) and third for aestetic value. But it must be done prior to final machine work and heat treating.

    Reccomend a rifle

Minute of angle is minute of angle doesn't matter if it is 100 yards or 1000 yards. If a GUN will shoot minute of angle at 100 yards the same gun will shoot minute of angle at any distance. Not the same can be said for the person behind the gun.

    Turkeys in South Dakota

I know two years ago they were having a problem with mainge in coyotes. As far as I know that is the major predator for Turkey eggs and young so that might be an explanation. South Dakota seems to have an abundance of deer as well. I was lucky enough to meet a good rancher that needed help...

    New Shotgun delimma

I need a new waterfowl shotgun and have narrowed it down to either a Benelli autoloader or the new Beretta auto. Does anyone own, shot, or handled either one and what are your thoughts? Thank you in advance for the assitance.

    .20 VarTarg

I have shot a few Nesika's in it and they were plenty accurate but I have yet to shoot a bad Nesika. If you are a reloader go for it. It is kind of a wildcat right now with only a few companies loading for it. It definately will not win a popularity contest between it and the 204 Ruger but I...

    Finding 7mm WSM...

Why not try reloading. I started a few years ago wiht a Lee kit for under a 100 bucks and am hooked. It pays for it's self and you can improve the accuracy of your rifle 99 percent of the time.

    Marines new rifle - rant

If you are in a military unit and have a part break it goes to the armorer no matter what. That is the only way you can get the part no matter how minor. That is just the way it work one for parts accountability and two to ensure that every private with a multitool can not be swapping out parts...

    Marines new rifle - rant

Then why is it that 99% of all target rifles are bedded? I might go as far as to agree that fiberglass bedding is 1960's But give me a good bedded action in Devcon with a metal powder added over a block any day. Especially on a rifle with any kind of recoil. I agree that the guns used...

If you were hired as a Contractor...

Well since I am a KBR contractor and we are not allowed carry weapons. Good idea as I would not trust the majority of KBR I have met with a weapon. But if the occasion ever happens where I need one there will be plenty laying around.

Possible to rebarrel Vanguard 30.06 into varmint rig?

I say go for it in 25-06. Add a Vais muzzle break and a couple of mercury recoil reducers to your list and you your brother and your dad will be fighting over who get's to shoot it. Nothing better than squeezing off a round at a varmint 600yards away and getting to watch the carnage through the...

Nesika makes a short length left handed action. I have one in 300wsm and it was worth every penny

recommend me a good scope for my varmint AR

My AR wears a 4-16 Leupold with Milldot and Target knobs. Whatever you decide on I would highly suggest target knobs for a varmint rig. My wife's .243 wears a 3-15 nightforce. That would be my first choice for a short range varmint gun but it was too hard to justify more money in optics than the...

    Tactical Style Pants

Since I'm in the desert with people shooting at me cna I still call them tactical? Just kidding I call them pants. I love my 5.11 pants and will still wear them when I get back to the civilized world strap or not. I really like the reinforced pocket corners for carrying a clip style knife...

    .45 120 Sharps

I am a hand loader but do not cast my own lead. I am not totally decided on the black versus smokeless powder dilemma. But I am leaning towards the black powder. I take it you mean by the warnings are real that it is a bear to shoot and it is finicky on what it likes to eat. The reason I ask...

What is the most accurate hunting rifle you have (without breaking the bank).

Left Hand Nesika Model K in 300 wsm followed closely by my wife's reworked win model 70 in 243. Both honest sub minute of angle guns. By honest I mean put a decent shooter with decent ammo and it will shoot under an inch EVERY time. Get a good shooter on the Nesika with handloads it likes and...

    Best highend bolt action rifle

My Nesika is a true 1/2 minute of angle gun that is with a competent shooter and good factory ammo or handloads. I am good friends with their former production manager (he only stepped down to go to Iraq for the chance of saving for his own shop) I have shot a bunch of Nesika stuff and I have...
