Need help with 9mm Win 231 Load

1.14" OAL is under the listed 1.169" maximum, and you mentioned they drop in the chamber manual cycling works just fine, so the problem must be with the powder load. 4.3 gr of W231 should reliably cycle the gun (cycles my 9mm), unless it is heavily sprung for +P loads. If your P99 is...

1934 Shooting Competition - Leipzig, Germany

Paraphrasing the above wiki article and DSB website; Bundesschiessen refers to the 23 national matches held by the German Shooting Federation (Deutsche Schutzenbund or DSB) between 1862 and 1965. The 20th match took place in Leipzig from July 6 to July 15 of 1934, and consisted of 1800 shooters...

Trying to decide on a .22LR auto loader

Rent and try out both pistols at a range. They look alike, yet which one fits you best is only really found out when shooting.

    Bullet trajectory

Gravity acts on the bullet as soon as it leaves the muzzle, and the bullet begins to drop. Your scope is tilted down and looking further down than the bullet will actually drop at a given range, creating the illusion of lift. See: and

    Full-auto blackmarket?

I've always thought illegal F/A would be pricey, just look at the $2000 AK example, which is a lot for a criminal to spend on a drop gun. Then there's the problem of size, concealment, etc. It's probably cheaper to bring friends with cheap handguns.

    Idiot with a DREMEL

The Germans used to add the last two digits of the serial numbers on all of the parts of a Luger, but that was because they had to be hand-fitted to each particular gun. Maybe something similar went on in East Germany.

Foreigners and gun ownership in the USA

You'd have to bring your I-551, passport, state D/L and prove 90 days of residency up to the day of your purchase. That might cause 3 business days of delays as they check everything out, it did in my case. I don't know about any Ohio-specific restrictions, those are the federal ones.

    CZ-75 leade/chamber variations between models?

I was shooting the same batch of my reloads at the range today, using a CZ-75b and a CZ-75 SP-01. The SP-01 had no issues with the ammo, while the 75b had three nasty failures to feed, each necessitating breaking down the pistol, removing the barrel and tapping out the stuck cartridge...

    Federal .22LR Quality?

Federal bulk pack results in at least 1 failure to fire per two mags, while shooting a Buckmark. Winchester x-pert bulk pack works much better, seems more accurate too.

    Powder/load for 9mm 147gr FMJ?

Update: I ended up getting Blue Dot, that's what the local Cabela's had in stock from the choices above. 5.2gr is working well so far, near minimum load, but enough to cycle the action without problems.
