    Help Picking Next Pistol

Thank you for your replies. I would love to get an STI Edge, but everywhere I seem to look they are asking between 1800-3000, and then theres the price of mags and etc. Anyone seen a P16-40 for sale since Para moved to the USA again? Anyone have any suggestions in regards to CZ or EAA...

    Help Picking Next Pistol

Hello All, I am a High C-class/low B-class USPSA shooter and have been using my Desert Eagle 1911 G (government model 1911) for the past three years. I have put close to 10,000 rounds through this particular gun in the past three years, and attained my level of skill with it so I am hesitant...

Why isn't the M3A1 "grease gun" still manufactured?

I would venture the guess that the market can only bear so many reproductions. I know there is a Sten copy that is made (closed bolt, semi only) but I think the price tag makes it out of reach for most, plus it's kind of esoteric if you ask me. I think also there would have to be a pretty big...

    Penn Bullets

I've had good experiences with Penn. I emailed him the other day asking about his RNFP 200 grain bullets that arrived weighing an average of 212 grains, and he answered quickly. It is my understanding that it is him and a few other employees that run his company. I like his product and his...

    Accurizing my 1911

Those groups were from sandbags with commercial JHP ammo. To be honest I havnt done accuracy testing at 25 yards with my reloads. I will do that and will most likely make an assessment from there. I will definatey look into the ice magwell though. Thank you for the input!

    Accurizing my 1911

Id say its on par with my ability. My standings at local matches are consistently in the top third and accuracy is better. I need to work on my reloads, recovery from shot to shot, and my accuracy at 15+ yards. If I can squeeze some more accuracy out of it that would be great moving forward. It...

    Accurizing my 1911

Hello All, I purchased my first Government model 1911 back in 2010 (Desert Eagle 1911 G, dead nuts reliable) and have since made great strides in my shooting ability with it. I made the decision when I purchased my reloading set up instead of buying a new gun to shoot the guns I have a lot more...

    Heavy BB .357 through LCR

The LCR is a steel revolver. All of the firing components (cylinder, barrel, barrel shroud, upper part of the frame) are stainless steel. It is the grip that is polymer. The .38 special LCR is partly aluminum, but I have the heavier .357 LCR. That is what I am tracking at least.

Commanders Can Ask About Privately Owned Guns

That's funny. I just had to fill out a Risk Assessment today at my unit, made mandatory here at fort richardson. On it was a "yes/no" block for "do you own a Privately Owned Weapon? Then it went into how many, what kind (rifle, pistol, shotgun), and what action type. I told my Soldiers that kept...

    Heavy BB .357 through LCR

Ha! Yeah, you have a point. It was for fun on the civvie range off-duty hours. Hell, I've been shooting since I was 8 years old and that ammo dang-near gave ME a flinch. Shooting it over my chronograph was not enjoyable, as I couldn't flinch for fear of shooting my brand new chrony. We spent...

    Heavy BB .357 through LCR

Thanks, again, RC. My Soldier shot the whole cylinder without any noticeable side effects, and the roll crimp on these rounds is TIGHT. I'm almost afraid to resize the cases because of how hard the crimp is. I have yet to reload any of the brass, so we shall see.

    Heavy BB .357 through LCR

Thanks, RC. I was kind of hoping you would post here. By habit of it what would you say the cut off should be? I'm thinking of keeping the other 30+ rounds of it in safe keeping for those friends who say they're not afraid of recoil. I don't plan on buying it again, but it's nice to know...

    Heavy BB .357 through LCR

Hello All, So, my LGS had a buy 3 get 1 free deal after black friday and I like supporting them, so I spent a few bucks there. I was headed to the range later, so I bought some .357 Mag ammo for my Ruger LCR. All they had was high priced specialty defense ammo for like $40 a box, and I saw...

    Lyman #55 issue

Hello All, I have been reloading for about two months now and I have run into an issue. I reload about 500-1000 rounds a month of .45 ACP for IPSC, IDPA, and target shooting and use the following hardware. Lyman T-Mag II Lyman .45 ACP dies w/ Lee FCD Lyman #55 powder measure My usual...

OK. Thanks for the replies. I will work up the next batch starting at 4.0 grains and working up from there for accuracy.

Red Dot powder, .38 SPL, 125 gr

Hello All, I am pretty new to reloading. Started out about 1.5 months ago, but have been reading up on it for about 2 years. Deployments and moves kept me from buying a press until recently. I have reloaded about 600 rounds of .45 ACP and am happy with my methods and practices with that...

    Reloading Newbie Question

Lost Sheep, I appreciate your concern, and I hope I will be sufficiently cautious while working up my own loads (eventually) but I assure you I will do my research well, and well in advance, before firing anything I've cooked up myself. Thank you for the information, and I think I've been...

    Reloading Newbie Question

Hello High Roaders, I have long wanted to reload due to the price of ammo for training, but I have a question you more experienced reloaders might be able to answer for me. I only shoot about 200-400 rounds a month and don't mind doing something slowly if it means it gets done right, so...

The complex science of terminal ballistics

You think terminal ballistics are hard? HA! It's easy! Step 1. Load 105mm HE shell. Step 2. Shoot 105mm HE shell. Step 3. Try to find enough of what you were shooting at to determine identity, race, or gender

    M14 original magazine issues?

Wow. Thanks for the update. It's good to know they got the design right the first time with this rifle. In reference to the M14 itself, any area to pay particular attention to when cleaning and lubing in order to keep it running in top shape? We are starting to thaw out from the winter here...
