Anyone actually carry a 6" barrel revolver?

I carry my 6" 629 when out and about in the mountains and when bowhunting. I use an Uncle Mike's nylon belt holster, but on my left hip crossdraw style. If I want it to be more out of the way or les visible I use an Uncle Mike's vertical shoulder holster. It's not light, but the little bit of...

    303 Ok for brown bear?

Where at in AZ? I have hunted the bears there and your .303 is perfectly fine. Depending or the area your going to your shots can be rather long. There are some pretty big bears in the southern part of the state. Baiting ain't legal, so are you going to be using hounds, or spot and stalk?

    pawn shop find rem 600

Where at on the trigger would a fellow look for the V? On another note the only thing I don't really like is the plastic triggerguard. I've seen ads for a steel replacement but haven't actually had one in hand. I did not mean to infer that all the 308s were inaccurate, I only offered it up as...

    pawn shop find rem 600

I've got a 600 in 243 with a weaver 2.5-8 power and external adjustments via the rear ring. I inherited it from my old man and it really surprised me to find out how high the prices on these things can go. I'd never sell it, but it's nice to know that it's worth something if I ever had to...

80 grain Remington HP or PSP

Thanks, I figured so, but not having seen either load perform I was curious. The PSP was about 5 bucks cheaper than I'm used to seing the HP's that's why I snatched it up. oops. I'll probably stick to the '06 for the medium stuff anyway.

80 grain Remington HP or PSP

I've been shooting the 80 grain "power lockt" hp's out of my little model 600 and am pleased with the accuracy and planned on using it for coyotes this winter. Problem is I grabbed a box of the Remington 80 grain psp's by mistake today. I've got an Antelope tag to fill this fall and hadn't...

Herrett's Trooper, finger grooved or not?

I recieved my new Herrett's stocks in the mail a couple days ago. Wow, I didn't realize what I'd been missing. I've never had a handgun fit so well before, my cz 97B is the only thing that comes close. I ended up getting Jordan Troopers finger grooved and checkered. Outstanding! As soon as...

Why not doubles for grizzly protection?

If a guy were to opt for a shotgun I'd sure as hell not use standard pure lead slugs. I've harvested several deer with the standard winchester 1 oz slug and after witnessing the deformation on a 150 lb whitetail I would not trust it to break bones and penetrate on a bear. A coup de gras from 3...

How effective is .223 against cars?

I've been following this thread with no small amount of interest. Couple of suggestions for what they're worth. What about putting a piece of scrap plate steel under a window, or some other method of stopping incoming, and being able to return fire protected other than your upper body while...

    38+p in 357 brass

I've got a couple questions for anybody more knowledgable than I. I will be moving within the month and re-setting up my reloading gear. I keep a 2.5 " model 66, and a 3" model 60 stoked with the Remington 158 grain LSWCHP 38+P's. I would like to have a load that would duplicate the...

    The Urban Battle Ax...

I've always believed the larger Estwing axe, campers axe?, would make a great urban battle axe. I've used mine for years for trail clearing, and all kinds of miscellaneous chopping. Light, decent reach, chopping power beyond what you would think to look at it. Only problem is for heavy...

A belated thanks to you guys. I just placed an order to rent a reamer from the reamerrentals.com site. Local smith penciled me in for friday. Hope all goes well.

    375 Win bolt gun

I wish I knew who did the work in the first place. All I can say is the guy I bought it from told me a guy in Oregone built it. A reputable gunsmith here close said he could turn the barrel for me, but he doesn't have a reamer for a 375. I'm trying to decide if it's monetarily worth it for me...

    Marlin 1894C .357 mag

Mine prefers 158 grain bullets over 125s, but those are the only 2 if used so far. Recoil is negligent, especially with 38's, it's like a 22. Very quiet with 38's as well, but even with 357s noise isn't bad either. It's a perfect complement for revolvers. Got one for my wife, and replaced...
