    Kel-Tec P3AT Price?

Sounds like a good price. I paid 250 for my OD green P3AT at a gun show Sunday...

    Colt Agent (parkerized Cobra?)

I picked one up some years back (mid-90s?) with no box, and promptly put Pachmeyers on it. I still have the original wooden grips somewhere - have to see if they have a SN on them. Haven't shot it much - and no +P rounds. Sweet little piece.

    PPK grips

Actually, isn't it the opposite? That is, don't the aftermarket rubber grips fit the old PPK and NOT the PPK/S? That was my understanding. I'm considering a set of Crimson Trace for my PPK/S, because the factory hard plastic grips are just too slippery for a pocket pistol, imo. But I...

    Spotted ANOTHER 30.06 sign.... ***sigh***

Interesting debate. In VA, anyone can post their private property as "no carry" and we have to comply. I see no problem whatsoever with this. Why should I assume I have right to carry concealed in someone's private dwelling or business? That goes to the core of Constitutional rights - for...

How do Police Officers feel about CHL's

Some excellent posts here. Glenn, we need more like you. And why oh why (unless NJ law requires it) do people "announce" to an LEO they encounter that they are carrying??? Or not??? Unless the LEO asks me, I'm volunteering nothing. I don't need a pat on the head, or some acknowledgement...

    Gander Mtn: Loaded Gun Sensors?

Neato torpedo... And I guess all these ex-Wally World employees have that new airport "see-thru" tech that allows uncensored views of what people look like under their clothes too? I wondered what Gander was spending all those profits on...

Road Rage:Federal Agent Killed at Broward County FL,Post Office

Come on, how many questionable LEO shootings are investigated every year? We've had, what, two or three headline cases where CCWs were involved - and in at least two, the aggravating catalyst was an off-duty LEO! Pride of badge has got to be entering into these cases, imo. But the anti-gun...

Road Rage:Federal Agent Killed at Broward County FL,Post Office

We law-abiding and responsible CCW holders really don't need this kind of "ammunition" provided our enemies, but, honestly, the guy could have shot the Fed with a concealed illegal weapon, just as easily if not moreso. This is not an issue of vetting CCW holders against every six sigma event of...

    S&W 642 or 638??

I got both. First purchased a brand spankin' new 642CT, then added a sweet little 38-2 in nickel, that I think I like better than the 642. Had to get the Crimson Traces for that one as well... Once you get used to the CTs it's very hard to accept the smaller grips and no laser!

    New S&W 642...A Little Bummed

I hope we don't start to see lots of QC issues with these no-lock guns. I have read that S/W basically bolted up a bunch of their old stock parts to make them... Let's hope this is an outlier and not a trend.

Lock free S&W 642's on the way

I think I'd just shop for a slightly older J frame and save a few bucks. It's tempting, but I just got a new one with lock recently. I don't think it's worth 125.00 loss for a very low probability malfunction, personally.

    Beating the S&W Lock

I must have a half dozen of those cable locks by now. I keep wondering what use I might have for them, but they don't seem strong enough to discourage a third grader tricycle thief...

    642 Club Part Deux

I tend to discount what most "experts" say, relying instead on my own range testing with my weapons and a chrono. My 642 shoots +P just fine, I handle the recoil well, and it's actually usually a bit more accurate. I'll take the extra 100 fps, thankee.

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

Thanks kamerer. I don't think this gun is carbon steel. It says "Airweight" on the barrel, and feels as light as my 642. I thought all the Airweights had aluminum alloy frames? Anyway, it sure feels light, and it doesn't look like any nickel finish I've ever seen. It looks exactly like my...

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

Hi, just a quick post on a new acquisition today of a 38-2, SN BNT 33##. Curious why this isn't a "638" like current production models that look identical to these eyes, anyway... Thanks.

    642 Club Part Deux

Nate, welcome! The light J frames don't really recoil much - more like a slap in the hand, like shadow boxing. The +Ps can sting a bit, but not bad at all. Think patty cake with a grown up, rather than a child. Enjoy your 442!

    642 Club Part Deux

Shade, thanks, didn't see it, must be going blind as well as deaf! Thanks for the info. I think I'll carry Federal Hydro-Shocks in this one (std. pressure). I just tested it for function with some WWB 130 FMJ, they all went bang! Like the ability to fire SA, too. 642 is definitely...

    642 Club Part Deux

642 gained a new cousin today I picked up a pretty nice 38-2 Airweight at a gun show. Action seems nice and tight. If someone here knows, I'd appreciate some info on this model. First I don't know why it's marked "38-2" since it sure looks like the current model, which is marked a 638, and I...

Recoil- Airweight J-frame vs. .380 PPK

Chriske raises an interesting point re: reliability/dependability. If your life may depend on something going "bang" absolutely every time (999/1000 or better), then I think ANY autoloader is NOT the choice. Even super reliable .45s I own CAN misfeed; revolvers, unless there is a timing issue...

Recoil- Airweight J-frame vs. .380 PPK

I have and carry both a PPK/S and a 642. As far as recoil, the PPK has less, but that edge on the beavertail will cut. I'm going to do something about mine. I don't see that as a reason not to carry the PPK/S over the snubbie, though. Reliability would be the other factor, though. Most...
