    Need Help Choosing a Scope

Thanks, guys. I forgot about Bushnell, Vortex, and even Nikon. I was thinking about a Vortex EER scope for my Mosin, but that's on the back burner. Right now, I'm leaning towards a Redfield 2x-7x or either a Weaver K4 or V7. If I could find a higher end scope used, I would consider that, too...

    Need Help Choosing a Scope

Hi, guys. I'm replacing the old Simmons I currently have on a Winchester 70 in .30-06 and am making a decision on what to get. I can't go over $200 and don't want to go under $100. I've narrowed it down to to a few brands (Redfield, Weaver, Sightron, and Burris) and will probably go with either...

    The 336 Club

I'm in the market for a 336 now. I've seen what folks paid for theirs on this thread so far (loooooong thread, I haven't read every post) but don't see anything current. I found one (336W, no scope) at Wal-Mart for $328. Is that a good price? The local GM usually has 336C's in the $450-$500...

    Paralax

Thanks, guys. This is pretty much what I was beginning to believe. Now that I think about it, I seem to remember Kelly McCann doing a demo of a parallax-free sight in a video of his and he was showing how no matter where your eye is, as long as the dot is on target, the bullet will be too. This...

    Paralax

I have a couple questions about paralax. First, how is it spelled? I've seen it spelled a few different ways and want to get it right. Second, is it really that important? I'm shopping scopes and some that have features I like are set at 50 yards, most are set at 100 yards. From some of the...

Fiber optic front sight on a Mosin Nagant?

The closest thing I can think of would be to do the front sight mod on surplusrifle.com and use fiber optic rod instead of metal. I haven't heard of anyone trying it, so I don't know how viable it would be. I'd be interested to find out, though. James

    Winchester 70 Bolt Problem

I decided to get into my recently inherited post-64 Model 70 to make sure everything is in working order and I think I may have screwed up. While taking down the bolt, I missed the step of putting the safety in the middle position like I'm apparently supposed to do (I'm new to the 70) and now...

    Auto5 stock on a Remington Model 11?

Hi, guys. In this same vein, I'm wondering if the B Square scope mounts for the A5 will fit the Model 11. I e-mailed B Square over a week ago and have yet to hear anything. Of course, if anyone has a definitive answer to rbernie's question, that would be nice to know, too. James

    Remington Model 11

Thanks for the input, guys. I re-examined the letter code with a flashlight and can now see that it looks like RN. My wife thinks the N is a K. The safety is behind the trigger. I'll try to take a pic and post it soon. James

    Remington Model 11

Hi, guys. I just inherited a nice Remington Model 11. I've shopped around on Google trying to get info (date of manufacture, etc....) and have come up empty. Serial number is 449504, letters on left side of barrel are FN with the letter R etched in as a third letter. It's got a phesant (I don't...

    CZ 52 Sight Question

"My other thought is, why bother with an adjustable rear and then put a Big-Dot on the front?" Good question. I never really thought about the paradox there, I was just brainstorming cool mods for a cool pistol. Of course, if I'm already using a Big Dot front sight, I could just have the...

    CZ 52 Sight Question

Hi, guys. While on Stephen Camp's hipowersandhandguns site the other day, I noticed his Number 1 BHP had S&W K-frame sights installed. I've been looking to upgrade the sights on my CZ 52 for quite some time and this seems like a nice way to do it. I wouldn't use the ramped front sight, as I...

    Safariland Scopes

No takers? I'm starting to think they're a very well-guarded secret or they suck so bad no one wants to talk about them. James

    Safariland Scopes

Hi, gang. I'm intrigued by the scope offerings Safariland has on their site, but can't find any info on dealers, pricing, etc.... I e-mailed them for info but so far all I hear are crickets and pin drops. Does anyone have experience with these scopes and where else besides the Safariland site...

The new CZ P-01's are SWEET!

Hauptmann, what kind of sights are those on your CZ? They don't look like the factory sights, or at least not what came on my P-01. Thanks. James

    PA-63 Barrel Press

Hi, guys. I ordered one of those Federal Arms stainless barrels for my FEG PA-63. Apparently, makarov.com no longer sells the barrel presses for these and the Makarovs. Does anyone know who does? I could take it to my gunsmith, but it seems like a project I could do myself and save some dough...

    CZ 52 Upgrades

Thanks for everyone's input. I've ruled out the 52 for ccw and figure I'll try to figure out a way to make my P-01 work with my love handles. I still would like ideas on cool ways to upgrade the 52 for a cool plinker or maybe backup home defense pistol. James

    CZ 52 Upgrades

I've thought about getting a TT-33 for a while, as well. I haven't decided on the CZ 52 for concealed carry quite yet. I would loooooovvvvvve to have a BHP. I've always thought they were the perfect balance between elegance and pure practicality. The ergonomics are great. Same for the CZ 75...

    CZ 52 Upgrades

Hello, all. I have a CZ 52 that I really like and I've decided to take the plunge and get it upgraded, as I can afford it. So far, I've decided I'd like to have it hard chromed or NP3'd, put on some nice wood grips, and see if I can get tritium sights installed. I'd want to get the machine marks...

    Choosing My First .308 Semi

Thanks for the input. So far, I'm leaning towards the PTR-91. I just got my new CDNN catalogue and the prices have gone down. They now have the 16" carbine below $1,000. The only thing that gives me any qualms (other than how my sissy biceps will handle the supposed heft of these type rifles) is...
