Hi, guys. While on Stephen Camp's hipowersandhandguns site the other day, I noticed his Number 1 BHP had S&W K-frame sights installed. I've been looking to upgrade the sights on my CZ 52 for quite some time and this seems like a nice way to do it. I wouldn't use the ramped front sight, as I would prefer an Ashley Big Dot, but the rear sight appeals to me. For the smiths on the site, would this be a fairly simple procedure to install? I also have to think about the fact that the serial number is stamped directly in front to the dovetail for the rear sight, so I wouldn't want to get myself in legal trouble by messing that up. Thanks.

Can't help you with a CZ-52 installation, but putting S&W adjustable sights on 1911's was a big thing about 1960 something. Back then, there were no suitable adjustable combat sights made.

The big problem with them is keeping them on the slide.

The best mounting method involved drilling the sight and slide for a precisely fitted 1/8" hardened steel pin to act as a recoil lug for the sight base.

Then the mount screw had a decent chance of not shearing off due to recoil.

But they still did on occasion, and would break the spring steel sight base right through the hole for the pin.

I imagine the CZ-52 has a more violent slide cycle then a 1911, and proper mounting to keep it on the slide would be problematic at best.

My other thought is, why bother with an adjustable rear and then put a Big-Dot on the front.

One kind of cancels out the other as far as precision accuracy goes.

"My other thought is, why bother with an adjustable rear and then put a Big-Dot on the front?" Good question. I never really thought about the paradox there, I was just brainstorming cool mods for a cool pistol. Of course, if I'm already using a Big Dot front sight, I could just have the dovetail cut to take the Ashley rear sight. Thanks for the replies, guys.
