Oxford Ohio: Open Carry Walk April 30 @ 1pm Miami University (Southwest Ohio)

First, allow me to thank moderator hso for the supportive tone of response, it's appreciated. Grumulkin, many if not most of these walk participants are also active members of Ohioans For Concealed Carry, and/or Buckeye Firearms Association, and/or other state level grassroots 2A advocacy...

Oxford Ohio: Open Carry Walk April 30 @ 1pm Miami University (Southwest Ohio)

Speedo66, you have several mistaken ideas about how these walks are conducted. 1) The organizer sets up rules that disallow camouflage or politically pointed attire. It's more like summer business casual. 2) No signage or flags are carried. 3) When we stop for lunch it's always...

Oxford Ohio: Open Carry Walk April 30 @ 1pm Miami University (Southwest Ohio)

Hello. I have not logged into or even looked at this site for four years, amazingly I remembered username and password. Anyhow, you may wish I hadn't come back at all after reading my take on this topic: Open carry marches played a LARGE part in forcing/embarrassing our Ohio legislature...

    Hi-Power Love

I've got more than one BHP in both 9mm and .40 S&W. All are of the Mark III era; one Practical and one Silver Chrome along with the others in flat black. Early on I had a blued one but found its finish to be WAY too delicate for carry purposes. Have done some quick and dirty shooting under...

    10mm for an outdoors caliber?

A Glock model 20 goes on my hip on any journey into "big critter country". (It doesn't get much toting duty otherwise.) For the parts of the trip where I'm away from the towns, a magazine of hot 200 grain JFP handloads goes into the gun. When I get back from the woods/mountains I'll switch back...

    Kimballl .30 carbine pistol

The order form pictured mentions the Kimball being made in several other calibers. Think I do recall reading about the .22 Hornet variant, but of course never laid eyes on one of 'em. And also available in .38 special and .357 magnum?? Wonder if those got beyond the drawing board?

Dirty Harrys gun:41 mag or 44 mag

Ding ding ding we have a winnah! Very good Guillermo. I wonder whose idea it was to have Eastwood's previous movie there in the background? Pretty funny.

Dirty Harrys gun:41 mag or 44 mag

Okay this isn't about the gun but some fun minutiae from the bank robbery scene in Dirty Harry. Those of you who own the movie, look carefully at what's playing in the theatre up the street from the shootout. (It's on the theatre's marquee sign.) Very nice inside joke. If somebody spots...

Let's talk a little more about springs

Hello Tuner long time no talk to. I don't want to drag this thread off the rails but it reminded me of something similar done in my world. Being the owner of Browning Hi Powers in both .40 S&W and 9mm parabellum calibers, seems I'd have to buy and keep in stock two different weight recoil...

    Erie feeling!!

@ Onward Allusion: If at a range by myself like you describe, one gun stays on me, loaded, the whole time. I ran the pistol section at one outdoor club for a couple years. Occasionally would find myself there very early, to do some chore or other. It was (and still is) against club rules but...

    9mm J Frame

Yes Ruger did make a 9mm version of the SP. In years past they made a small quantity of Speed Sixes in Parabellum as well. Most went overseas for police contracts and I believe some went to U.S. Postal inspectors. Greatest number of them were with the 2.75" barrel but they made some 4...

    9mm J Frame

I went the route of having a local 'smith/armorer get me a 9mm J-frame cylinder from S&W. I (slowly and carefully) fitted it up to my Model 637. My practice is done with lighter 9mm handloads, but it's had a couple moon clips' worth of full powered ammo run through it as well. No issues of any...

Are most of the guys who sing the praises of Browning High Powers 1911 lovers?

Both of them suit me better than anything else. No problem transitioning from a BHP to a 1911 or vice versa. In fact I use the same holsters for both. I do switch to carrying a Glock model 20 (10mm) when spending time in places with bigger critters than people to watch out for.

    smith 645 gurus?s

tbreed725, I was "the first kid on the block" to buy a model 645 when they came out. Until the holster companies made rigs specifically for them, I got by pretty well with holsters made for the Beretta 92 series.

Kmart ND then signs go up...

Gunowners really shouldn't be spending their money at K-Mart in the first place, if that company's recent track record means anything to you.

    CCW in Summer

Hot weather has severely limited my ability to successfully conceal any handgun larger than a Glock Model 20 autoloader, or S&W 4" Model 29 revolver. ;) You have to dress around the firearm to some extent. Concealment garment over a belt rig can be any untucked, square-bottomed shirt that...

    Magna Trigger

Seven High, just one more little thing to consider about the Magna Trigger: If you work in a hospital, aren't you exposed to some large magnets at various times? Seems like that could interfere with the ring and gizmo. Reason I thought of that is because of taking a paramedic refresher class...
