I'm heading down to Mooney's gun shop in the morning and I'm going to order a Remington M-799.
Anyone know a smith that can do a stripper clip mod for the .223?
My next question is about Mil Spec stripper clips for the 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.
Will .223 work in them just the same or will it be a bit of a loose fit?
I thinking more along the lines of a shrunken down traditional Bolt action battle rifle as far as loading mechanics and function, plus detachable mags take a bit away from the lines of the weapon.
The chrome lining was an after thought.
The list shrinks a bit, just need to find someone that can...
I just want to know if there are any problems with feeding or accuracy,I'm thinking of having a custom bolt action built and would like the option of using stripper clips (As stated before in a different thread about doing the same to a CZ-527) to load.
Any ideas as far as iron sight options...
If things went south and I had a Marlin Model 336 in hand,I'd be doing some hunting alright,it wouldn't be for antlers it would be for badges of rank.
The 7.62x39mm round is good at the same ranges as the ol' 30-30 but as another poster has said I'd rather be seen as J.W. instead of V.C.
And...
Not trying to Hi-Jack the thread or anything, but Anyone remember the owner of a watch repair shop that defended his life and place of business on several different times.
I'm trying to find the video from 60 minutes (I think it was on that one)
Can anyone help me out?
I'm not talking about hacking up a good rifle,I'm talking about a custom build mini-1903 from the ground up,it's going to take a lot of money no doubt, but it'll be worth it in the long run.
How about a Springfield M-1903 rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO,scale it down to fit the Carbine role with a 161/2-inch barrel, shorter length of pull on a straight grip stock,Standard rear sights (Just like the originals) update it to be able to use a modern bayonet/Knife,chrome line the barrel...
Well the ammo I have my mitts on are Federal FMJ 55grain (Wally World bulk pack)
One aspect that got me thinking about this rifle was the cost (Also ease of cleaning and how simple the operation, cut my teeth on plenty of old "Poke Stock" shotguns)
Not to mention that most .223 rifles are...
