What gun for HD for wife?

If she has no interest in a gun...why go through the trouble finding something she most likely won't use?Why not look into getting a dog to guard the house. Or a taser? Once or twice at the range is not enough to learn everything needed about a gun to trust it in self defense. Personally...

Concealed Carry-why do you do it?

I carry because I can, and because I should. I carry to protect myself and my family. I carry to protect my rights, and because it is a comforting feeling knowing I don't have to depend on someone else to protect me. Caryn

    Wal-mart cheap ammo

We stocked up on the walmart .45 blazer brass also now we reload it. We got a heck of a deal on the last 4 boxes of federal 300 wm they had. We were getting ready to do an online order but with shipping walmart came in a bit cheaper. It is sickening though that just about anywhere ya go all ya...

    This makes me very angry

These "kids" did have someone to teach them about guns. He had just completed a safety course. There are basic courses offered all over the place.Even if you don't grow up around guns...or with parents that teach you...that is no reason to not educate yourself. Caryn

i would like to know what kind of guns your wife likes to shoot?

I'm a wife...and I LOVE my 1911 officers .45, my Taurus 445 (44sp. snubbie). I also enjoy shooting my Remington 1100 lt20 and my newest baby...121M1 Benelli Semi Auto riot gun. Caryn

    .380, 9mm, or .38 special?

I bought a .357, because it could shoot both .38's and .357. After 2 cylinders of .38's, I decided to try the .357's. After that I never went back to the .38's, it just didn't have the recoil I desire. I then got my Taurus 445, and sold my Ruger .357 because it no longer fit any of my wants in a...

    Pink handguns....for the lady

Taurus makes a 9mm in pink, they also put pink grips on their M85. Because women are buying more guns, and shooting more, companies are starting to sell more "visually appealing" guns for them. There are more options out there than just .22's. DuraCoat is also an option. I really can't...

Do you buy one brand exclusively?

I don't stick to one brand. I buy what fits best and what feels best. That said..I loved my Ruger..until the recoil no longer was enough. I love my High Standard 1911 and am quite smitten with my Taurus 445. I am a caliber snob though. In a hand gun (unless a .22 for plinking at the range) I...

    Open carry or Concealed Carry?

In Virginia, a weapon laying on the seat/dash, or open console is open carried...no permit needed. I know this because I asked our local police department about this question specifically. Caryn

    Open carry or Concealed Carry?

That is true.. I live in VA and can open carry with out a permit. I can walk in to any gun shop, buy a gun, load it and walk down the street with it. If I want to conceal, I need to go to the court house file my paperwork, then to the police department and get my finger prints and wait 3-6 weeks...

    Open carry or Concealed Carry?

People don't need to see the light. They will carry the way THEY feel most comfortable. I open carry, even after I get my concealed I will continue to open carry. I am not trying to change peoples minds. You do it your way...I will do it my way. I see it as a deterrent, to people only half heart...

    Pink handguns....for the lady

So preference for finish should play NO role in selecting your weapon of choice after you have decided on a base and a caliber? Wow...someone should have told that to the manufacturers before they started with stainless finishes, blued, parkarized, nickel, camo..ect,ect,ect. I think it is great...

From the ladies... .38 snubbies, felt recoil?

Again...this isn't so much of a caliber thing as it is finding the right house(gun and size) for the caliber of choice. And only SHE will know it by handling it and shooting it. Caryn

    Stock question

Any one know if you can put a Mossberg 500 youth stock made for a 20 gauge on a standard 500 12 gauge? I am having real trouble trying to find a youth 12 gauge stock...and wondered if they are interchangeable. Thanks in advance Caryn

    caliber war victim

I am glad I could help. For me it was easy to bring up. While cleaning I just started going over the basics. This worked really well for me...but stressing the points of safety. Repetition is key IMO. Maybe buy them a toy gun to teach the basics with, if you or your wife are uncomfortable with...

    caliber war victim

Very tragic story. Although I would NEVER carry a .25...or suggest one, in NO way means I would ever suggest they are not deadly. As for this... My son is 11. From the time he could crawl/walk I told him of the dangers of guns while cleaning them. As he got older the talks became more...

From the ladies... .38 snubbies, felt recoil?

I think for a lot of us ladies, and some men..it is more the back strap slap to the palm rather than the actual recoil from a smith. Even though very similar, the recoil from a taurus in the same size/caliber is much easier on me. I do second the shooting gloves though. She may find after a...

    Reading Glasses/Bifocals

I don't wear Bifocals. But have you looked into getting dedicated shooting glasses. With one eye lens for close up and one for far away? I am not sure if it would work..but it seems like it would be easier than trying to do it all with head movement. Caryn
