Well pretty much all the places around town are either out of most of the popular ammo or they are price gouging the hell out of their current stock.

All I have is guns that shoot 45acp and 357/38, so Ive been wanting to get out on the range and practice but I havent been able to due to the rise in prices.

So the other day I went to my brothers apartment in Kingsville, I decided hey its a smaller city might find some cheap ammo, so I went to the walmart, and :what: they had 45acp Blazer brass 50 round boxes for 15 bucks.

I bought all they had.

but I still cant find 357 or 38 anywhere, well at least cheap range stuff

I have shot tons of the Wal Mart Blazer brass, and it has never failed to go bang, and it's a good price (last year it was $11.87 which was a lot better).

If you'd be willing to keep/exchange your brass, the online reloading companies can get you cheap range ammo for great deals, and they don't run dry like the shelves of Wal Mart do.

I picked up some ammo at Walmart today as well. Winchester 9mm 100 rd value pack for $20. It was unfortunately the only place I could find 7.62x39. IT was $27 for 40rds. It sucks but I have my fiance's father is coming over this weekend and he is dying to shoot my AK so it was needed quick. I'm attempting to try and get into reloading anyway so my brass will at least be useful.

I've had a lot of trouble with that to. I drive a truck, and have the opportunity to stop at LOTS of different Wal-Marts in LOTS of different places. Any time I find any, I buy it. I don't like the blazer brass, it does go bang, but since the casings aren't crimped, I occasionally have problems with improper burn, ejection/feeding issues. I notice a lot of soot on the expelled brass too.

We stocked up on the walmart .45 blazer brass also now we reload it. We got a heck of a deal on the last 4 boxes of federal 300 wm they had. We were getting ready to do an online order but with shipping walmart came in a bit cheaper. It is sickening though that just about anywhere ya go all ya see is empty shelves.
Makes me glad I just put a little .22 on hold.

I was really surprised at how much the quality of the blazer brass has gone up, I dont know if they bought new machines or tooling or what

But I didnt like to buy it before either.

It always looked sloppy and you could tell it was cheap ammo.

but now its a different story, its really nice. I was really surprised.

I usually buy the remington box of 100 from Walmart because its usually reliable and cheap. I hate buying winchester, I have gotten too many from them where the bullet was pushed really deep into the casing and scored primers, stuff i didnt want to see you know.

yea i wish the prices were still the same as last year

I bought a couple boxes of Blazer Brass 40 S&W yesterday at wallyworld. They had probably a case that I saw.

I tehnd to buy all of my plinking/practice ammo for the handguns from them. The rifle ammo can be had cheaper by getting bulk I think. Also I dont think they sell and 5.56 only .223.

I look forward to the day when we can discuss guns/ammo issues related to wal mart here without worrying about the thread being locked.

Every wal mart I go to is blown out of ammo. No 9mm to be had and hardly anything of other popular calibers.

It's kind of hit or miss (no pun intended), with the four WallyWorld stores in the area. So far I have been fortunate to find Federal .22 bulk pack, Federal .223 100 round box, WWB and Blazer Brass 9mm., and Federal Champion .22 ammo for $1.47 a box. But never at the same time, and only after repeated visits to all four stores over a two week period.

Neither of the two local Wal-Marts have any .38 special ammo. Both clerks I spoke with said they don't know how long it will be before they get more. In fact, I didn't see anything on the shelves for handguns, and the long gun stuff was very sparse.

Yea, the walmart closest to my house is out of everything except for shotgun shells (only bird shot) and 7mm, and they had two boxes of remington 45 auto but it was like 20 something

The Maryland Shooters Forum has a thread on "Wally World Ammo" to track inventories in the various area stores.
I travel thru Delaware a lot and always stop and stock up on tax-free ammo from Walmart. Screw Martin O'Malley and his new 6% tax.

I buy my Winchester 22 mag ammo and Federal bulk 22 at wal-mart, I've always been able to find it, when I'm there. They have the best prices by far on 22 mag, and the Federal bulk 22 has worked great for me, good price.

Where's the ammo?

What with all the gasoline you're using you should instead buy reloading equipment and "roll your own". I can reload 3-1 over factory ammo and it doesn't really take long to recoup the $ spent on the equipment. And it's fun. :D

apparently my local wally world just got their shipment in the last day or so...... they had blazer brass in .40 sw, .45 in the UMC 250 rds pack, Remington 223, even had 7.62 X 39...... and people were lining up to buy all they could....

I came home with a Federal 550 pack of 22lr and a couple boxes of 17HMR.....

I leave a little behind

I try to buy enough---as much as I can afford at the time, but I always leave some behind for the next guy! He might live somewhere he can't do without his ammo! I've had totally happy results with Blazer. Winchester is a name I always respected, but...I had one box of self defense white box which gave me five rounds that failed to ignite!

Wal -Mart

In the last 10 days, I have been in 15 wal-Marts in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. No handgun ammo except a few 22s. I finially found some .38SPL in Peoria, IL. but they would not sell them to me because I was from out of state.:banghead:
