    Carbine Conversion Unit

WOW!! I had no idea, seemed harmless enough. Ummm...when I said it was a blast to shoot I meant that's what the other guys said...I never touched the evil little contraption. Damn Hooligans!!!

    electronic hearing protection?

The Howard Leights arrived at the office today. Comfortable enough after I figure out how to adjust them, instructions are a little weak. The volume of ambient noises is definitely amplified. Typing on my laptop sounds like an old Smith Corona with them on and cranked up all the way. Schwing...

    A visit to Cabelas

Good to hear Stavman. I'm moving out that way and while I'll probably settle in East Mesa somewhere, that'll be my new big store. I live about a half hour from a Bass Pro here in Maryland and the inventory there is the same as quoted above. Honestly though...as much as BPS irritates me with...

    Shooting out a boresnake brush?

Seems to me the brass guide should have stopped it as well, and if it didn't I'd write the Boresnake folks and tell them they should have thought about that. I got a patch lodged in the barrel of my 17HMR a few years back. I do almost all my cleaning with an Otis kit and found that I'm asking...

    electronic hearing protection?

Thanks yall...I guess I posted in the wrong place initially but I found it here :) I ordered 2 sets of the Howard Leights for $85.98 total delivered on Amazon. Hope they make it here before the weekend so I can try em out!

    Would you load em?

It's been awhile since I took the Kalashnikov out but my daughter wanted to shoot it on our Father's Day range trip so I took it along. It's a Vepr2 in .223. I had maybe 100 rds. of 55gr loads including around 60 I built using a near max charge of Varget. The work up was shot through my AR...

    Bad Primers?

Maybe I oughtta have a look at that too. I load on an LNL and have had a few duds with WSP in 9mm and 40. Winchester primers are the only ones I've had the issue with and they were all from the same batch. I posted about it in another primer thread a few weeks back and got a lot of the high...

    Carbine Conversion Unit

Years ago a fellow I used to shoot with bought a collapsable stock that slipped into the void in the grip of most any model Glock. He also mounted a red dot sight that replaced the rear notch on the slide. The thing was a blast to shoot and would nail 1 poind propane cans at 50yds all day...

    electronic hearing protection?

I'd like to pick up a few sets of electronic earmuffs. Teaching my daughters and girlfriend how to shoot would go a lot smoother if we weren't yelling back and forth all the time, lol. After some poking around online I like the design of ones I've seen from Peltor that are behind the neck...

    scope mount for a kalshnikov

I picked up a Vepr 2 in .223 from Robinson years back and was thinking of scoping it to see what kind of accuracy I can get out of it compared to my AR. Does anyone have any experince with scope mounts for these rifles? Is the accessory rail a good place to hang a weaver adapter? I want it...

    Caliper recommendations?

Is there a vendor that carries starret, B&S, Mitutoyo that I could go to to pick then up instead of mail ordering? Grainger, Ace, Home Depot, Lowes...etc.? I'd like to get them in my hands right away if I could. I live around Baltimore/Annapolis, MD.

    Caliper recommendations?

These sre made by Fankford Arsenal. The display is flashing which I imagine indicates they need a battery. Do they start acting haywire like this when the battery is weak? The cheapo plastics I mentioned are dial calipers. Are the Starrets you mention for $125 digital Hondo?

    Caliper recommendations?

I made a potentially gruesome discovery tonight. Loading 9mm at a COL of 1.067" on the progressive I was checking periodically as good practice goes and coming up with acceptable deviation using bulk bulkets once I got the seater set where I wanted it. I had a few long ones on the bench from...

bigger plunger for Hornady powder cop die?

It only appears to have one "end" which would be the larger end. I guess you ciuld flip it over but it would look upside down with the rings on the bottom and the plunger on top. In that case even the "larger" end fits down the neck of a 223 case. I dig the drill and tap idea...I'm going there.

bigger plunger for Hornady powder cop die?

I routinely use the Hornady powder cop die to check charges before seating on my LNL progressive and when doing small diameter cases (9mm and 223) I can pick up even slight deviations in charges, like a couple tenths of a grain. Doing larger diameter stuff i think the plunger sinks in the...

    Bullseye powder

What are you shooting that cartridge out of and how does it group for you? I'm using 5.3gr of Power Pistol under the same bullet as my plinker companion to a 124gr XTP driven by the same. The XTPs group beautifully, the PDs open up a fair bit which is to be expected to some degree. Just seems...
