    Attacked today in San Francisco

It is true that nobody can remain in condition yellow or orange all the time. La La Land is an appealing place to wander through. The trick is to know when a side trip through La La Land is safe to you and just as importantly those around you. Even though I go to probably the safest college in...

    What happened to PA?

Well aside from the perpetually socially liberal politics of PA, I'm happy to live in the state. It sure beats Ny. Oh I'm sorry, the Soviet Socialist Republic of New York. It only took me three weeks to get my CCW and thats because I had to to travel out of state for two of those weeks...

Montana leading the charge in the 2A

"If the question is one of Constitutional law, and I believe it is, given that the interstate commerce clause is how it will be justified, then a State law cannot supersede the Constitution." The proposed law does not supersede the constitution because the interstate commerce clause is...

    Proposed Pa Gun Ban

To all members who live in the Commonwealth of PA. Our wonderful governor has got it into his head that firearms are the reason we had those tragic shootings in Pittsburgh in the last few weeks. He plans to ask our legislature for a ban on semiautomatic firearms and "cop killing guns" and "cop...

She Cried Rape: No One Helped. WWYD?

I like to think I would help. My mother did raise me right and I am sure I would have gotten involved. I detest rapists! They give all men a bad name and reputation. If it had been in almost any other she would have had the right to keep a firearm and would have been able to defend herself or...

    Ruger 10/22 vs. Marlin 795

The key component of an accurate weapon is the shooter. A shooter that isn't perfect needs a weapon that is able to correct for his errors and short comings. If you are Daniel Boone, you may be able to shoot a bug off a bear's nose at 100 yards with the 10/22. If you are Joe the Weekend warrior...

    Ruger 10/22 vs. Marlin 795

I agree with King Ghidora, why buy a weapon knowing you are going to replace lots of the parts? It seems like something the government would do. If you are buying a rifle that you know you are going to have to throw stupid amounts of money at to make it perform like you want it to, you might as...

    Ruger 10/22 vs. Marlin 795

I personally own a 795 and I love it. It shoots like a laser and I can shoot a dime at 100 yards. I didn't modify any of the mechanism at all but I did do some work on the out side. Just a few additions to make it some suitable for shooting prairie dogs and other small game. Yesterday I shot...

    Bullpup stock for marlin 795?

I've never heard of an aftermarket stock that would fit the 795. I own one and I would love to put a thumb hole stock or a bullpup on.

    marlin model 60 vs. 795

I recently acquired a model 795. I love it. It shoots like a laser even at 100 yards. Even being a relatively poor shoot, I can shoot a half dollar sized group at 100 yards with only the cheap federal bulk pack. As for the ability to customize the weapon, I added an after market bi-pod and a...

When it absolutely has to go bang, you reach for a...

well, I agree that if it must go bang right away, a revolver is the safest bet. But if it needs to go bang more than six times, a 1911 is probably your best choice. Avoid knives at all costs, they are worse than a weapon of last resort. That is what you use when even your bat is broken and the...

most fun rifle for the $$?

As wonderful as I think the 10/22 is, I disagree with the idea that it is the most fun to shoot. I personally prefer the marlin 795. It shoots like a laser beam and is easier to take down than the 10/22 in my opinion. However, both are superb rifles and with 22lr being the cheapest ammo out...

    Marlin Mags

I recently purchased a Marlin 795 rifle. The weapon performs beautifully. I'm getting quarter sized groups at 50 and 100 yards. However, I recently had a problem with the mag. It's a 10 round mag that came with the rifle. When I loaded it with 10 it decided that it wanted to disobey me and the...

is any one at THR an Eagle Scout

I have great respect for Boy Scouts who actually practice what they profess. When I left the Boy Scouts, I was very upset with the way my troop was run and it turned me off to everything the scouts did, except for the really cool stuff. So I joined the Civil Air Patrol and did some freaking cool...

Does this seem fair? I'm kind of ticked at my local range.

As terrible as it is to take advantage of a customer, they really are just being good business men. Fortunately for me, I go to a state owned range that is open year round and is free to shoot all day. The only problem, and its a serious one, is that on any given day, there can be several...

carrying one in the pipe question(s)

I've heard that the Israeli army trains its officers and NCO's to carry with the chamber empty. I'm guessing that they don't feel safe with one in the pipe. They must train the heck out of them to get them comfortable with having to rack the weapon under pressure.

carrying one in the pipe question(s)

I'm very new to the carrying scene. I got my permit two days ago and I carry a Taurus model 85. I love my little revolver. I carry the weapon in an outside the waist band holster under my jacket. I can see both sides to the argument. When carrying with one in the pipe, there is the outside...

Will a .22 stop my assault rifle 'jones'.

The real question is: What do you want to do with this weapon? Is it for home defense, high power range events, or just to have a sweet looking weapon? If you want a really sweet looking weapon, you can't go wrong with an AR type and if you want to feed it the cheap stuff, get a 22lr conversion...

    Cold weather and ammo

I also prefer to shoot in the cold. And I've had nothing but bad luck with the remington ammo. And I was shooting the thunderbolts. Also, when I shoot the Federal Bulk pack, I'll get on average about 5 misfires per box.
