Browning 1885 for Browning A-Bolt trade

I would consider it a good trade and spend the $200 on ammo or reloading stuff. I am partial to old west and classic old single shots though. The high walls are bringing up to $1500-$1600 in some places because there is a large following for classic styled big bore single shots. I'd love to...

looks like the first Kel-Tec RFB in 7.62x51/.308 has hit the market

Yes but the hole thingy that goes boom and flashes is way out in front of my face which makes it less likely to cause flinching. Also isn't the chamber on that right next to your head? Not that I worry about that much. I did look at one of those 50 BMG type guns once though that had the bolt...

looks like the first Kel-Tec RFB in 7.62x51/.308 has hit the market

Wow! I just can't wrap my head around having an 18 inch barreled .308 going off that close to my face. I'm thinking it might turn me into a flincher. My personal opinion is that they are ugly as well but the muzzle blast in my face would be the biggest downer for me.

My Favorite Gun Shop in Colorado!

I'm surprised Boulder County hasn't shut down Left Hand Canyon like they did St. Vrain Canyon in Lyons. I used to shoot at both places. Dean's if I remember was on West Colfax and I went in once with an original Springfield Trapdoor in excellent shooting condition with a mirror bore to use as...

Why AR's more accurate than AK's?

The 223 is a flatter shooting cartridge than a 7.62x39 which is a big plus for the AR. I have an AR and in the past have owned several AK type rifles and a Mak90. All the AK's I owned shot good enough for their intended purpose. 3 to 4 inch 100 yard groups are about average, same as my mini...

Black Powder Substitutes and Users Deserve Respect

Wow, Long original post. This one might be close to that long. I'd say use whatever floats your boat. I've tried several black powder substitutes and the only one that ever worked was Pyrodex and that requires immediate clean up the same as BP. It just fouls somewhat less than real black...

Colt 1860, 5.5" barrel, thunderer grip

I like that washed out bluing look and do the same to a lot of my revolvers. Sometimes I polish off the factory blue and cold blue them and just handle them a lot and they get a nice patina on them as the cold bluing is not as durable and it tends to turn plum colored were it doesn't wear off...

How do you remove glass bedding?

Thanks. I'll probably try the acetone first since I have some and I worry about heat discoloring the bluing. Thanks for the responses. That stuff is a lot tougher than I thought it was. Dave

Why are so many gun dealers dishonest?

Ya, That's a lot like finding the holy grail. I know ONE guy who I absolutely trust to work on my vehicle. He is painfully honest which is rare in that business. We only have one gun dealer in my area that I avoid. The rest are pretty stand up guys.

Why are so many gun dealers dishonest?

I've seen some shady dealers myself. I had an FFL at one time and am fairly knowledgeable but some are just outright rip offs. I "Antique" some of my own personal guns, Not to deceive anyone, I just like the look of an antiqued gun. I did an 1860 army black powder revolver once, Filed off the...

How do you remove glass bedding?

OK, This is my fault for sure. I have a rifle that had a very loose front sight. For a quick fix so I could loan the rifle to a friend for hunting season I mixed up some Pro Bed 2000 glass bedding and filled the dovetail and set the front sight, Wiped off the excess and it was an almost...

    Hi-power knock off barrel failure

It looks like this problem has been solved but I thought I would post just in case someone is looking for this kind of information in the future. I have an FEG 9hp Mine is the PJK model that I bought in 1998. I know they changed them some since then but I was at my local gunshop and my friend...
