Colt website says no record of this: 14612NF, but I have it and is a short barrel New Frontier marked "44-40" on the barrel, with a 44 Special cylinder.
I have an OMBH in 30 Carbine, a NMBH in 327 Mag and a Single Seven in 327 Mag (and several other SA's in 32 WCF). To each his own, and I reload and shoot them all and have a lot of fun!
As Springer99 stated, I too used a 41 Magnum NMBH or S&W 57 to shoot IHMSA production back in the early 80's. And for a nice size shooter I have two Bowen conversions on OMBH's to 41 Special, one plow handle and one Bisley. Nice!
We shoot steel spinners at 65 feet with lead bullets, all calibers, and have had a few pieces fly back to the line. But, as said, everybody wears eye and ear protection whether shooting or just spectating.
For those of us who were there almost at starting time (started my HL subscription in 1972) it was a very good read. Still have all the issues since, but not sure what to do with them. Is there a market?
I have two Bowen conversions of an OMBH to 41 Special, one with Bisley frame etc. Hornaday New Dimension 41 Mag dies have enough adjustment in expander and seater to crimp the 41 Special. John Taffin has an article on loads for it. I like mine second only to my 44 Specials.
I have one marked "Beretta", works fine and fun to shoot with mild 45 loads. Sights leave a lot to be desired, but then it is not a target revolver. Not sure why I bought it.
This weeks choice for range therapy are two Bowen customs; an OMFT 44 Mag converted to 45 Colt, 7.5" barrel and an OMBH converted to 45 Colt with 4.6" barrel. Just plinking loads at 50 feet.
Here it is Thursday again and time for range therapy. Todays therapy tools will be an OM Single Six 22 and a Bowen conversion of an OMBH to 25-20. Small caliber day.
+ 1 for GLOOB. I found a cast 125 gr. SWC in .312 that I use in 32-20 and 327 Fed. Mag. I use a Lee sizer to bring it down to .309 for my 30 Carbine BH. Works just fine.
Thursdays are "range therapy" days, 3pm to 5pm relief from the office at our clubs indoor range. Today is 32 caliber day; a Buckeye 32-20, a Bowen custom OMBH 32-20 and a USFA convertible with the 32-20 cylinder. 150 rounds works out very nicely and home in time for the cocktail hour. Life is...
Rim Rock bullets makes a 125 gr. SWC sized .312 and I size it down to .309 for my 30 Blackhawk. Shoots good. I have found that slower powders, H-110 etc. work better than the more common revolver powders like Unique etc.
