My experience. Friend got a new DPMS, I assume 1/9 but don't know for sure. Anyway, he's trying to sight in with Federal Eagle factory stuff. Shooting maybe 4" groups.

I give him some of my hand loads. 50 grain Nosler BT's, 26.0 Varget, WW cases. First group was about .9.

1/7 twist AR...what have you found to work the best ammo wise?

I've fired everything from 40 to 69 grain from a 1:7 and my experience was that the only significant differences in accuracy came from the quality of the various rounds and not projectile weight.
FWIW
YMMV

1/7 twist I would look at mainly over 60 grain ammo. Make sure you've got ample throat or at least shoot mild factory rounds for the first 1000 rounds or so to lengthen it. I wouldn't go high pressure with a real tight barrel in 1/7. There's bound to be excessive pressure with a twist that tight. FWIW my 1/12 twist rifle shoots 60 gr partitions very well.
1/7 twist rifles completely unnecessary. There is no practical use for it which a 1/8 twist barrel can't achieve equally well. The 1/7 twist is necessary to stretch the platform to extremes for which it was never intended by the original designers. Mainly to increase terminal performance out of a 14.5" barrel. If you really need that compact of a weapon look hard at a bullpup which will give you increased performance over all.
