The day i get there im heading over to get my ID and then as soon as possible im going to buy an XDm 9mm and build or buy my first Evil Black Rifle ;)

Going to sell all my 10 round mags and get "Standard" capacity mags :what:

Im so excited!...

What did you have to do to get out? Dig a tunnel, homemade hot air ballon, scale a large wall? Do they shoot a people trying to leave? Ha ha...

Congrats on your upcomming move!

What part of socal? I moved here a few+ years back and try not to go back to Cali, unfortunately my family stayed there. What part of Texas you moving to? I am Dallas area. If you are going to be in or around Dallas pm me and we'll go shooting.

Im next to Magic Mountain in Valencia.. been here my whole life and just burnt out of it. Im actually a Teamster in the movie industry but the past 2 years with the writers and actors strike hurt so i ended up taking a job with a biomedical company that is moving to San Antonio that my g/f has worked at for 4 years now... so my union status is solid and she will move up being in a new building so we took their contract they provided us with and took them up on their offer to get the heck out of here.

So much filming has already left SoCal, it doesn't matter if i fly out of LAX or San Antonio airport.

So cheaper living, less trafic, friendly people, all of my hobbies (Offroad, firearms, muscle cars) seem more accepted there :)

Going to be exciting.

My work will be 1/4 from bass Pro shop!... im going to be so poor. hahahaha

You'll get over BPS pretty quick. After a year or two of being over charged :)you'll find something better. They do always have a good selection though.

Yeah, im sure it will happen. But Even if its just for lunch at Isla Mirada (Sp) or an ammo box, its fine with me to go hang out :D

Don't forget to get your CCL. No OC in the Lone Star State, we're workin' on it though. heard you could OC unloaded in parts of socal, San Diego maybe?

Might try and sell them 10 rounders before you leave. Wont be worth much here.

And of course the unofficial ''Welcome to Texas'' song:

Welcome!

Whatever you do, don't hate me because my state is more beautiful than yours.

These threads about "my state is better than your state" are great fun.

Just like Snow isn't for a certain person, its personal preference. Im very happy to get out of CA and its not Gun Related, although its a nice bonus :)

And when people ask just tell them you weren't born in Texas, but you got here as soon as you could.

OH, I know it!..... Im leaving everything CA related about my past at the border.

Im an Offroading, gun shooting, Muscle car racing, Motor building Good ol' boy that happened to be born in the wrong state :) LOL

Yep, that's what I tell 'em. Been here 35 years. Coincidentally, I moved from Redlands, KA. The hardest part was realizing that I could just sloooow down a little bit and enjoy life. Sit on the porch and drink some iced tea and talk with folks.

Welcome to Texas, and remember, we don't care how you used to do it in California.:<)

Jake, I lived in the Golden State in 76-77, the Monterey Peninsula in fact, which is about as scenic as you can get. It was beautiful, without a doubt. But a lot of blood has gone over the dam since then. I'm glad I'm not there anymore no matter what the view from my window used to look like.

King, you are on the right track. San Antonio is a very nice place. Don't forget to write GTT on your door when you leave. (Gone To Texas)

Gun related content: When you get here go shoot some hogs. They're taking over.

I know what you mean my job in Palm Springs started at 7 the same job out here 8:30.

On a side note if you dove hunt we don't have a 15 day first season.

I fled CA in 1992 because I was fed up with the Draconian gun laws and ultra Liberal politics. Quit my job, sold my house, left my family and friends. bounced around being unemployed and underemployed in 3 states before finally settling down in AR. I don't regret it a bit.

You will be amazed at how different things will be in a free state.

I wish you and your GF (after all this still only GF status?) all the best in your new life.

THank you very much.

We have been together for 6 years. Things have been hectic between life, family, Family members passing and in suffering for a long while, other weddings, ect going on before we could really get serious about it.

She's awesome and is a shooter herself and we are on the same page. We are just trying to get some stability before we make another drastic change to our lives.

The mountains of Northern Cali are beautiful. Its the southwest part that needs to slide into the ocean most of us take fault with, me thinks :D

I did not know that TX did not allow OC. There is a field office there that handles the same work that I do in KY that I will be visiting in the future. I really need to prush up on Lonestar state laws.
