do you think ruger will make a 10/22 chambered for thtat new hornaday .17 caliber cartridge? do you think they should?
would it even be possible to cycle semi-auto? i mean, would .17 generate enough recoil to through back the bolt ect

My future Father-in-law has a .17 and I shot it over the Thanksgiving holidays. While it was all sorts of fun, I fail to see just what is accomplished with this round that is not accomplished better by the 22 (or 22 mag). I had a blast playing with this round, and accuracy was superb, but no better than either my 22 mag or 22 LR. Since ammo prices for this round are pretty steep and you can’t reload it, I just don’t see the positive. To my way of thinking one of the major upsides of the 22 is the cheapness of the ammo, you really can plink away all day long on a few bucks. Of course there is that intangible feeling of “I just like it†in which case who am I to disagree? In fact, I just might feel that way myself...
