22 Mag - do I need one?

When I hunted turkey in Virginia, there were some old toms who knew the range of a shotgun to the inch -- the .22 Mag was a total surprise to them.

This is an auto loader made by Magnum Research. I've been thinking really strongly about getting one. I don't have a .17....yet, but I've owned a .22 mag before and wasn't smart enough to hang on to it.

Need has nothing to do with it...want has everything to do it.

Very cool rifle but I'm not ready to spend $700 on a rimfire at this point.

Surprising info about hunting turkeys with the 22 wmr. I would have never thought about that application!

I group the 17 HMR, 22 WMR, and the 5mm in the same catagory in terms of my own shooting. I'm never going to plink with any of these rifles. I'll use a 22LR for that. So, the choice is about business; your business may be hunting or it may be trying to shoot small groups on paper. But again, I'll never just blow away 200 or 300 rounds of any of these just for fun like I do with 22LR at plinking targets. Call me cheap. Call me practical.

The 22WMR is a good turkey gun in states that allow rifles. A 223 is a bit stout and you have to be careful shooting one with a 17HMR. Works though.
