hey guys, i was wanting to get a ruger rimfire but i wanted something more then a .22. i know they make .17 hmr conversions for the 10/22 so i was wonderin if they make those for the charger, cus i was wanting to get a smaller one. if they don't make those, could i just saw a 10/22 rifle barrel to the charger size if it would fit?

Well if you find a 10/22 Magnum then just find a .17 HMR barrel. I was thinking about doing that but the Magnum versions are harder to find so I just went with a Savage.

The 17hmr is a necked down 22 magnum the 17hm2 is a necked down 22 lr . The hm2 is rather pointless to me but to each their own . So If you want a 17hmr you will have to buy a 22 mag and rebarrel it and new action parts. If you want the hm2 a plain 22lr will work .Your are looking at a $1000 to do it right by the way . Save the money buy a savage or a marlin . 2 cents

The hm2 is rather pointless to me but to each their own .

It serves essentially one legitimate purpose: .22LR semiautos can be converted by the user, a gunsmith, or the factory to shoot .17M2, but not HMR.

Otherwise, it seems pointless to me, too.:)

haha. yea thanks. i think i'll just go with .22 lr :/

well, either that or a single shot hmr. either way :/

the charger, with a 12 to 14 inch bbl, is supposedly about the most accurate setup you can get right now, I am just not a fan of trying to benchrest a pistol.
anyway, there is a dude over on rimfire central, who does all the testing, building, ammo testing , etc., for rugers, eley/cci ammo, everything, and he knows more than anyone else, the best conversion into mach 2, for 10.22's and for the chargers. go here. and drool over his front picture;
