Picture 225.jpg

heres that rifle. its just a standard ruger with a 90 dollar gma barrel and hogue overmolded stock

Picture 227.jpg

and here is her handy work.

Picture 265.jpg

those were from the 50 yd line, and mostly measure between 1/4" and 1/2 inch.

all 5 shot groups except the 1st one, its 7 rounds.

the ammo was el-cheapo winchester bulk brick stuff.

that rifle is wicked accurate with match grade like eley, and aquila.

with the good stuff 1/8th to 1/4" groups are pretty easy.

they sure are fun.

sometimes at 50 yds, i turn the target around backwards where its just white. then i take a little spray bottle with red hummingbird food (liquid, colored sugar water and spray it down and hunt flies and honeybees.

it cracks me up to hear all the marlin 60 guys say a stock marlin 60 will outshoot a modded 10/22.

Oooh Yeah,

My wife has a stock 10/22 but, she won't let me play with it.

Here's a muchly modified 10/22. Sorry, no group pics.

Mine are all stock out of the box. Sorry, I don't have any pictures of groups.

The first one I got. It's my wife's actually. The scope is a cheap 4x32 Bushnell.

1995 DSP. I got this one for myself. The scope is a 4x28 Simmons 22 mag.

1997 DSP. I got this one next. I figured this way both of my sons could have one when I'm gone. The scope is another 4x32 Bushnell.

1977 "no warning" barrel. My grandson might like to have something of grandpaws one day.

1995 SS/carbine, laminate stock. Another Wally World Special. Couldn't leave out the granddaughter.

Here's a pair I built a while back. Call them the Jerrasic Twins due to the T-Rex stocks. The blue/SS one has won a number of local 50/yd bullseye matches.

Well, here's the first three

PICT0018-1.jpg

Top to bottom we have: My squirrel gun, with a Volquartsen carbon fiber barrel and a 6X Weaver. Middle is just a plinker, with an 18" bull barrel. The bottom one is the heavy gun, with a 20" bull barrel and a Boyd's Smart Stock.

Here's a target from the last gun. 50 yards on a nice calm day, with Wolf Match Target.

Here's the gun I've been shooting the most lately.

That's a Walmart Special, with XS sights and a Butler Creek stock. Since I get asked about it every time, the magazine holder is made by cutting stitching out of a nine cartridge butt cuff to make three bigs loops that fit magazines.

All the guns have at least a buffer, extended magazine release, auto bolt release, and aftermarket hammer. Most have a few other tweaks as well.

I can quit anytime I want. Seriously. ;)

CajunBass, I covet your property. Beautiful!

Nice rifles too! The wood on that '77 is gorgeous. Do you have a closer, brighter photo of that one?

I wish I could claim it as "mine," but in fact it belongs to a deacon at my church, but we do rent here. The Lord truly blessed us when He led us to this place. :)

It is a pretty rifle. Let's see how these came out. I've added a little 3x7x20 BSA scope since the last picture. It's a pretty good shooting little rifle. I killed a few squirrels with it this past fall.

The other side.

And the "no warning."

First post as a new member.... here's a 10/22 that I put together and don't have any group pics because I have not shot it yet. It took a while to get all the components I wanted and even longer to find someone to 'massage' the trigger on it. I have added a Mueller scope since these pics were taken.

Some of my polishing work (it was blued and in rough shape when I got it)

I might as well put my two beaters up too.
Fajen stock, GM barrel, Mueller APV with Talley mounts. The rest is modified oem parts. 8oz trigger, 0 creep.
1022.jpg

This is the Krinker Plinker kit. Shoots almost as well as the gm barrel gun. Internals are modified oem parts. 2.5lb trigger that bump fires nicely.

No, the XS sights come as a kit, with a taller replacement front sight and two sizes of ghost ring aperture. I wasn't having much luck with the big ghost rings, but XS also makes one with the interior threaded for Williams aperture inserts. I think I ended up using a .093 insert.

Just a question...

Do all these fancy stocks and stuff make the 10/22 more deadly? Or is it like tricking out a car or something?

If by "deadly" you mean more accurate, yes, the modifications all make the rifle more accurate. The fact they're nice looking is a bonus.

I did find a couple pictures of groups with a couple of mine after all. My wife shot this first one with her Wally World Special. It's actually two different groups. I spotted the first four for her, then she adjusted her POA and fired the last six. Ammo was Federal Bulk Pack from Wal-Mart, range 25 yards.

001-5.jpg

This second one I shot, with the SS/laminate carbine pictured above. Ammo was 30 rounds, CCI mini-mags, range 25 yards. The scope was a little Bushnell 3x7x20. I was shooting just about as fast as I could get back on target and pull the trigger. The X is 1".

003-4.jpg

They're about typical for what the others will do. They may not win any matches, but squirrels fall out of trees when they crack.

Yes, it is like tricking out a car, you can personalize your rifle to your liking.
Barrels and bolt modifications improve accuracy. Trigger mods and stocks improve shootability.
The 10/22 standard model is a plain jane out of the box.

Yesterday was my lucky day, I have been looking for a 10/22 international model for several years. I found a mint one, local, cheap. What more could I ask for.

Welcome curlyws6! After you polished that receiver, does it scratch easy or is it pretty durable?

Yes, the stock makes the 'guts' of the rifle more consistent from shot to shot (especially after bedding and secure mounting points not part of a factory stock). The aftermarket stock just feels 'tighter' when I'm holding it, guess mainly the thumbhole stock gives me a tighter 'grip' (if that makes sense).

..... and they look cool!

Here's my 10/22's. All but one I rescued from various places and restored.
Fun to shoot and accurate.
Enjoyed all of your great pictures and info.
