First off my 10/22 has a factory laminated stock and im wondering if theres a way to mount a bipod on it, most bipods mount on the sling stud but theres a barrell band there also so im wondering how to mount. My second ? is whats a good scope to put on it in the 50.00 dollar range just for paper and about 10-20 backyard skunks per year. On the scope im really partial to simmons I own about 10 and never had problems, im considering the 22mag or the 8 point any thoughts. I have a 8 point on one of my 50 cal inlines with around 100 shots of hard recoil without any movement but I have never had the 22 mag.

Not trashing leupold but I own one and wouldnt trade my aetek or my outfitter for two of them, I really have great luck out of simmons.

Ive got a simmons 44mag on my 243. Havent had a single problem with it. At the ranges you are talking about you should get a scope that is for a 22 or one that has a adjustable objective. But one with a A/O will put you over your $50 price range. First thing you will need to do is get a Weaver Style mount and a good set of rings. I would suggest a Power Custom base an a set of Burris signature rings. You can put the best scope in the world on a rifle but if you dont put it on a good base and mount its going to shoot like a $5 scope.
On the bipod do like I did just put a sling stud on the front and roll with it.

Why not go with a VariX 3 3.5x10 ? Fun rifle.

Change out the stock and another few parts and have a ball.

http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/348225 I bought one of these (bsa 3-9x40) from midway and it's a nice clear little scope. I also bought a 3-9x50 bsa and they both work very well. For your 10/22 I would recommend the 40 mm objective so you won't have to change out the rings. The reviews on the scope are some good and some bad. If you notice the bad reviews are from people that mounted this on a high recoil rifle. For a 22 these are great scopes but for a rifle with a lot of recoil I stick with my bausch & lombs and mah redfields :)

For a .22 variable power scope, you'll want one with adjustable objective so that you can focus at closer ranges.
I have a Bushnell Sportview 4-12x40 AO on my 10/22 and it's served me very well.
Got it from SWAFA for under $50 www.riflescopes.com
