Ive got an all weather 10/22 with open sights and just bought a Leupold vx-3 1.5-5x20 scope for a deer rifle im ordering later this week but itll be 8-12 month's until i get the new rifle in so im planning on mounting the vx-3 on the 10/22 for now. I know almost everyone has a 10/22 so what do you all suggest i use for a mount system where ill still be able to use the irons?

a mount system where ill still be able to use the irons

there are no good ones, imo. put tech sights on it if you want irons. if you want a scope, mount it as low as possible, not on some terrible see-through mounts.

I use warne QD rings, scout scope mounted on fore end, tech sights on there too if I wanna shot irons. IMO the "see through" style mounts put the scope too high for me. Here's mine.

Yeah i guess using a QD system would be ideal and i can keep it low and inline with my eye. So ill have to pick up a rail obviously and Warne rings?

The Warnes are pricey, but always hold zero for me; and the scope is on and off frequently. If you're goin for traditional style scope mount, True Shot Technologies make a rear peep with rail included. Look em up.

Warne rings are your best bet, it's about all I use. Whatever you do, don't put see-thru mounts on it.

Leupold & Weaver make a "see through" 10/22 ring set. Another option is a raiser mount that acts as a 'see through'. Both well raise cheek weld. The best rings for the 10/22 are from Talley.

I find even with the lowest rings I could find, I have trouble getting a consistent decent cheek weld on my 10/22 while using a scope. Using even higher "see through" rings sounds like it would be even worse. Personally, I'd advise just ignoring the irons and use the optimum set up for your scope, but if you really want the option, QD rings are probably the best way to go.

+1 on the Weigand. I just put a one piece on mine with a vx1 2-7x33 and its awesome. Fit and finish is nice and with good pull up and cheek weld. Good enough for a squirrel gun at least.

I use a Leupold base with Leupold low rings to attach my Leupold rimfire.
