This is a Flintlock Shotgun I built during the 1980s.The barrels are originally Breach loading,I squared off the forcing Cones, fitted sleaves in the Chambers and threaded the breaches, made plugs, the top Tang is a piece of Angle Steel cut and bent to shape.

Another view. The Locks are castings by E J Blackley.I made the Springs and internals. The Timber is a branch from a pear tree well seasoned.

Very cool, I have been wanting to build a double 10 bore but have been unable to find parts cheap enough. Reading your post, I just remembered that my land lord has a set of barrels to a 10ga Spanish gun but doesn't have the gun. Maybe he will sell them to me.

The Barrels where a pair that a friend gave to me,the rest of the gun must have been lost in the mists of time.

Snaggletooth,I always keep the Timber square after cutting out the profile having Penciled around a cardboard pattern.I then inlet the Barrel and Tang.Next I offer up the Locks, make a cardboard Pattern and draw around it.Try to fit as much of the furniture before shapeing the Stock. My work wouldn't be very commercial since when it gets tedious I walk away from the job and get back to it when I get the urge.Working like that you can think of your next move,it is no good to go at it like a bull at a gate.Have a go with a low grade bit of Timber that doesn't cost the Earth.

Oh... oh MY. That is beautiful! I love looking at that kind of hand craftsmanship. The checking and polish on the pearwood especially. It may sound odd, but that gun needs a matching little round breakfast table and pair of chairs.

Lol... I was thinking of wooden furniture ... but you do have a nicely manicured garden patio. That's one thing I do miss about England that I just can't keep here- a green lawn. :p
