Snaggletooth,I always keep the Timber square after cutting out the profile having Penciled around a cardboard pattern.I then inlet the Barrel and Tang.Next I offer up the Locks,make a cardboard Pattern and draw around it.Try to fit as much of the furniture before shapeing the Stock.My work wouldn't be very commercial since when it gets tedious I walk away from the job and get back to it when I get the urge.Working like that you can think of your next move,it is no good to go at it like a bull at a gate.Have a go with a low grade bit of Timber that doesn't cost the Earth.
