I have Missouri coated 155 gr SWC for my 40S&W, and I'd like to load the same bullets for 10mm. Lyman Cast 4th ed has Power Pistol at 7.3-8.2 for 175 gr TC bullets, but no data for the 155. Which is odd, because there is Power Pistol data for the 155 bullet and 175 bullet in 40S&W.

It looks like most of the 10 mm 155 lead loads are breaking 1300, would I be ok with using the 180 data and working up to around 1350 or so? For JHP or FMJ, Alliant load data lists max 10.3 or 10.6, respectively, hitting about 1430-1450 in 5" test barrel.

I wouldn't waste any powder, or time starting at anything in 40S&W. Use Alliant's 10mm 155 jacketed data, minus 10% of course. 9 grains should get that 155 SWC in the 1300(ish) range.

Here's a page from their old manual. Note 155L and Power Pistol

This is data that I put into Quickload, and then used to get a desired result out of a 6" barreled 10mm 1911. Since plated bullets have a very thin plating, this data should get you in the ball park. As you can see, this load is only running 21k PSI (out of the available 37k), but I didn't want to go further since much over 1250fps will start messing with the plating.

From Quickload: 155gr RNHB Berry's Plated - 9.0 pp | 21,611 psi | 86.24% burn | 6" bbl
From chrono: Avg 1308, es 85, sd 37 - 62 degrees - 202 pf

Great info, thank you! I have to check my notes, but I think my 357 mag 158 gr LSWC load with 14 gr of 2400 runs about the same, maybe a little faster. I guess I just needed another caliber, toolhead, set of dies, bullets.....

Thanks again, I will report back once I get it all set up and chrono them!
