1000 rds of Klimovsk 7.62 x 39 ammo

I m completely dry of plinking ammo so i ordered this new import. THe name sounds familiar, i wonder if any here have ordered and tried it?

They are about $189 for 1000 rds on many online ammo dealers. And shipping cost almost $30 to my zip code. Better buy now as you never know the uncertainties of 2012, LOL

I ran out of FMJ also and grabbed a 1000 rounds of kilmovisk for range plinking. I put 100 rounds of it through my converted Saiga and Norinco SKS 2 weeks ago. It was as accurate as the Tulammo and Wolf Classic HP ammo I was shooting that day. For range/plinking I think this stuff is G2G.

Lacquer coated. I guess they are same as the Barnaul steelcased. The best ammo i had so far was the Yugo surplus , they were brasscased and hot loaded. QUite accurate , too, and corrosive to say the least. Got to clean it pronto especially in my Yugo SKS.

As to the Klimovsk, they are current production i guess they are not that corrosive. I could be wrong but from shooting the Barnual the carbon residue wasnt too bad.

I don't see a lick of difference between any of the Russian steel cased ammo brands, some lots are more accurate that others, but I just buy what is cheapest.

Really? A lot of people think the stuff from Tula (such as Wolf) is dirtier and underpowered, whereas the stuff from Barnaul and Ulyanovsk is not.

Now I can't speak to that personally, so for all I know, you're right.

The Yugo M67 is slightly cheaper and has proven very accurate for me with my best being a 2MOA group out of the SKS.

I ran two groups of 10 rounds over a chrono and got 10fps and 12fps SDs from the M67.

The downside is it's corrosive, so no tossing your AK in the closet for 6 months and then shooting some more, unless you want to have to kick the bolt open.

Klimovsk is made by KSAP (Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant) near Podolsk . It is on a production facility formally named Novopodolskiy and is now named Klimovsk Stamping Plant or KSP. It's a seperate plant than all the others. This ammo is also not corrosive. It's some of the better commercially producted Russian ammo.

Not true. Some of the Russian ammo is made in Germany and different factories in Russia regardless of the name.

That works out to $.22/rd, which is only ok. Wish 7.62x39 would come a little cheaper these days. Shoulda bought cases of it back in the 90's when people thought it was trash...

1000 rds came to my door by UPS today. I checked and ammo looks clean , new production. All in little white boxes. The lacquer coating is a little greyish in color and dull and not like the green shiny ones like the Russian 5.45 or Wolf brands. I have to take pics later.
