10mm 1911 or 10mm Glock?

If you're planning on reloading (esp. if you're going to run hot loads), check out the chamber support on any 10mm. Some 1911's, such as the Colt Delta Elite, have a lot of unsupported brass. Glocks can have a big chunk of unsupported brass, too.

Here's a great thread that has a bunch of pictures (scroll about halfway down) showing the different levels of chamber support: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=671004&highlight=unsupported+chamber

Between the two you are considering, if I were reloading and shooting hot stuff, I'd do the Glock with an aftermarket barrel to get chamber support. (Although I have heard that Glock has revised their barrel some, so aftermarket may not be needed.)

In the 1911's the Kimber appears to me to have just a smidge more support than my Dan Wesson and possibly the best support of all models. Fit and finish though the Dan Wesson gets the nod there.

For the ease of take-down and enhancements that can be done to the Witness models (flat bottom firing pin block, cone guide rod, firing pin, springs) plus the awesome trigger and cost... hard to beat them!

I'm currently using my 3rd gen G20 as a nightstand piece. I'm using a Streamlight for illumination. Also have a G17 I use as a nightstand piece. Have it equipped with a CT Railmaster laser.

IF I'm going to be shooting a lot of my reloads at the range through the G20, I use a Lonewolf barrel, as I get more reloads out of my brass with the tighter chamber of the LWD barrel.

My G20 with 6.2" LW barrel and 20# spring jammed just about every mag today at the range. Frack. It even prematurely dropped the magazine. Weird. I'll need to figure out the issue.

One thing's for sure, the dropped mag didn't have anything to do with the LWD barrel. IF shooting pretty stout ammo, setup should have worked fine. The only problem I have with my LWD barrel is that the chamber does have to be cleaned more frequently than the factory Glock barrel.

The ammo is reloaded 180 gr FN. It is closer to max dimensions than factory ammo, but it is within specification. Worked fine in my other 10mm's, I have not tried it in my stock compensated barrel.

I took the gun down and cleaned it really well. The mag release ledge was pretty filthy, I hadn't cleaned the frame for a couple of outings. It's possible this and my frustration with the jamming may have somehow caused me to thumb the mag release. The chamber was really dirty as well, which is a bit odd since I had cleaned the barrel and the slide last time out and fired only 200 rounds or so. The LW chamber is very tight but I've never had such issues before, even with the same ammo.

Next time out I'll try the reload ammo with stock barrel and recoil spring.

Seeing as I already have a G21, what would I need to convert it to fire 10mm? My understanding is that I need a slide, barrel, magazines, and a heavier recoil spring. Am I missing anything?
to convert to a G20 you need a G20 slide, barrel, spring, and Magazine. The case head of a 10mm is different than a .45, that is why you need a new slide too. Going from 10mm to .40, only requires a barrel change.

I have a 29sf, and I love it. The "small frame" made all the difference.

any recommendations for springs?
