Hey Guys &Gals
As many of you know I have been struggling with a good load for a G-20.
Found 1 good.
155gr RMR pulled H/P not plated look like Hornady HXP.
With 10gr HS-6
CCI LPMP, Starline brass
That worked very well.
The bad....
I have a lot of 180gr rnfp plated.
No luck zero!!
I have tried several published recipies using Unique, long shot, and hs-6. with these 180gr plated the bullseye has no fear of being hit.
It is truly amazing how different point of impact is with different powders at different charges.
None had really good grouping.
The HXP was on the money very very happy with that so happy going to ask Jake to send me another 500.
I guess with the 180gr plated I can keep experimenting.
Fyi I was shooting 15ft. It was cold 39° drizzle fog deer and turkey kept shutting down the rifle range they would just wander out during live fire.
If anybody has had luck 180gr RNFP plated please let me know.
Thanx

Which bullets are these? I only see the 155gr new premium bonded HP and 155gr pulled Federal HST HP bullets.

I don't shoot 10mm, but I shoot 357sig. My experience is that plated bullets starts loosing accuracy before they reach their rated 1200fps or 1400fps velocity. With 357sig the drop-off in accuracy is very noticeable. What velocity are you getting with the plated 180gr bullets in 10mm?

You are right Fed HST.
I am away from the bench. I think velocity just over 1200fps.
Think I will slow them down and see what we get.

I've had pretty reasonable accuracy loading RNFP plated bullets from Berry's and Xtreme over 13.1-13.3 grains of AA#9. (As in hitting the bulls eye at 20 yards doesn't take a miracle.) I'm sure I'll refine it, but I need a better rest to really tinker with accuracy.

I've had similar accuracy using Longshot as well.

I've got a little more room to go up, but out of a 5" barrel they are averaging 1225 fps. Max velocity for those bullets are 1250, so until I get some FMJs I don't plan to load anything to max.

I have not done extensive workups with 10mm yet, so far I have only tried 4 powders: AA#9, BE-86, BlueDot, and Power Pistol. For the load workups, I loaded Xtreme 180 HP seated to 1.260" and shot from a 4.7" Witness Elite. I had decent results.

Once I figured a good load, I loaded up about 30 rounds for each powder and ran each separately to see how I liked them. I've heard so much about BlueDot and AA#9 in 10mm, but I actually preferred BE-86 over everything. It was cleaner than AA#9, and while BlueDot did well, it took a lot less powder with BE-86 to get the same velocity.

Winchester WLP primers, Xtreme 180 HP @ 1.260", Witness Elite Match 4.7"

8.3gn BE-86, 1209 fps, 12.0sd, 17.0es.

13.2gn AA#9, 1178fps, 9.0sd, 18.0es.

10.2gn BlueDot, 1208fps, 15.1sd, 30es.
