I've posted about problems I've had with my 11-87 Premier, and they are continuing. This time I've had essentially the same problem I had before. Not the magazine issue, but with the trigger failing (first happened when an unfired round got stuck in the chamber).
I've determined now that it's not actually anything to do with the trigger. What's happening is that the bolt is refusing to go forward fully. It's only very slightly back, but it has obvious consequences.
I had been aware that for some reason the rib wasn't lining up with the top of the receiver properly. Not very much off, but enough to cause the extracter to not fit properly in the notch cut into the barrel. You can kind of see it in the image located here: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRKoZJUCJtm-UfAsvMnv_8iq13Po2H7pUvx6kWIWcYw6H6oqar2
My barrel doesn't look like that one, but it's essentially the same.
As a result, occasionally the extracter doesn't wiggle enough to fit in there- and additionally, you can see some light wearing on it as well.
There's a groove in the opposite side of the barrel into which a 'bump' fits, to ensure that the barrel is oriented correctly. That's not happening now, though.
I am able to align it correctly by hand before screwing it down properly, but once it's put back together tightly, it goes back to lining up wrong.
Has anyone else had this happen or heard of this happening? Ideas for fixing it? I assume I could file either the bump or the barrell a little bit to get it back to perfect, but I'm not sure exactly how to do this, or how safely it can be done. I assume the problem is actually the barrel, maybe warping a little or something, and not the 'bump' in the receiver.
Any ideas?
