it just kills me or am i not looking hard enough, i'm looking for some fmj that are reasonably priced that I can load up and plink with. I am currently loading 125 gr nosler bt for hunting which is about $20 for 50. great results but i don't plan on shooting these much.

the only bullets I could find were mostly 150 gr or over and about $22 for 100 in fmj. the only 115 gr fmj i found were round nose (for 30 carbine) or some premium expanding bullet like the barnes. I understand that the typical .308 are designed for much higher velocities than the 300 blk and therefore use heavier bullets and the lighter stuff is just not as popular.

i do have some 150 gr hornady interlock sp which was around my price range but prefer a lighter bullet. if i can't find anything lighter i might just load a bunch of these for plinking. i could use them for hunting but i don't think this bullet will expand at blk velocities. thanks.

Since reasonably priced pulled 147 Gr FMJ bullets have dried up for the time being, it's tough these days to find a cheap plinker bullet. I can't think of one in that weight range that is cheap.

Cheapiest I found are the bulk pack 150 grain fmj hornady bullets. I tried to get the light 30 carbine bullets to work, but they are just too short for me. I like the 125 grain hornady SST bullets. According to the guy I talked to at hornady, you will be good to go on deer if you keep the IMPACT velocity above 1700 fps. My problem with the AR15 in 300 blackout is that I want to blast away with it like I do with my 223. I fail to remember how much the bullets cost and how much trouble it is to form the brass. All I think about is how much fun I'm having and how much less powder I'm burning. I also forget how hard it is to find LiL Gun or Accurate 1680 powder. My solution is using 5 or 10 round mags. It gives me time to think as I reload the mags, so I shoot less.
