I've been looking into a cheaper alternative to my current 300 blk loads which is Nosler 125 gr BT with 18 gr of lil gun. I get about 2175 - 2200 FPS. These are my hunting loads and I have had very good luck with it, however it can be pricey taking this load to the range.

I saw that Hornady finally (unless I just missed it this whole time) made a 125 gr FMJ for about $24 on midway. I got two boxes of 100 and initially loaded 15 test rounds at 18 gr of lil gun (what I already have setup for my nosler 125gr). Overall length seated to mid cannelure is 2.090" and clears magazine. The hornady 18 gr is not a compressed load like the nosler and leaves a little room for more powder. I plan on loading two lighter loads and a slightly higher load. Also cycles in chamber with no issues. I'll try to go out and try these and chrono them. The closest thing I could find to these that are factory loads is the Hornady Frontier 125 gr FMJ 300 blk but I can't find any to shoot and compare.

Has anyone have experience with these 125 gr fmj? Primary purpose for this load is a range plinking round so I don't expect the accuracy like the noslers. If they do shoot decent I might stock up on them. Just hoping to get similar velocities to my hunting loads. rifle is 16" CMMG.

The TNT works for a lot of people, but the one I linked to has more full diameter bearing surface and is easier to get good neck tension with.

I had a bad experience with the TNT in 300 BLK. May have been me, may have been a bullet jammed deeper in the case, but either way, I don't use them now. That said, lots of folks do, and they shoot very well.

Ouch.

finally able to go out this afternoon. powder measure is lee auto disc: 1.18cc = 16.7 gr, 1.26cc = 118 gr and 1.36cc = 18.6 gr of lil gun seated at 2.090. Last chrono is with my 125 gr nosler bt at 18 gr. 10 shots fired for each load however only able to read what's on list. chrono is caldwell premium kit. target is of the 18.6 gr load at 50 yards. less than 1 inch plus a few fliers. I really need to upgrade my mil spec trigger and scope.
