A friend of mine is wanting us to do a little Coyote hunting... so I'm looking for a good 110 grain Hornady V-Max load.
Any first hand experience with what works well here... or is the basic answer a Max load of H110? lol
AR15 with a 10.5" barrel.
Thanks!

Without the time and weather to do a full work up, I just did a little 'internet research', looked at load data from various sources and used some basic experience to come up with 20.0 grains of H110 at 2.04" OAL and a CCI 450 SRM primer. Max is 20.2 grains, and H110 likes to be loaded at/near max. People seem to be having good luck around this area. Some are running 20.8 or even 21.0 grains, but say it's hard on brass. We'll see how it does, and if it shows no pressure signs and is accurate enough to blast a coyote at 100-150 yards, we'll call it good. Hoping for close to 2300 fps out of my 10.5" barrel, but expect around 2250.

This is what I ran with that bullet.

I was just looking at my notes to answer the question and was reminded of this funny bit; in their load data for the 125-gr Nosler Ballistic Tip, Nosler says the max for H110 is 18.0 gr, while the max for Win 296 is 17.5. :) (Version 7.2 of their load data).

W296 works like like H110 if its an easier option. Loads are identical.

LilGun works, but it does burn really hot. Like noticeably hotter than other powders.

W296 is what I have. I just said H110, as it's the same thing and more people seem to be familiar with it. lol
I tested Lil Gun with 220 grain Berrys Plates when developing a subsonic load, and it did not do well. 10.5 grains of IMR 4227 was the winner there.

4227 is great for subs. 1680 is also GTG if you need another choice.

1680 at 21.2 grains for 110 gr V-Max and Barnes 110 gr TAC-TX is my main load for 300 BLK

This cycles my AR platform with a 16" Barrel and a carbine length gas tube.

The Barnes bullet and this load has taken it's fair share deer as well.

I've only used H110 with the Barnes 110gr. See no reason why 2400 or #9 wouldn't also do well. Basically any magnum revolver powder.

Because it's the same powder.
A very long time, pre Hodgdon buying up Winchester powders, they were not, but Hodgdon has confirmed they are identical now.
Either way, great powders for 300 BO, magnum pistol, and probably a few more.

These loads work well in my guns. YMMV.
Gemtech Brass, Hornady Z-max 110, 19.3 gr. H110, Remington 7 1/2 primer, OAL = 2.033

The Nosler bullets perform slightly better.

They were the same long before that.
