The LOP on my 1100 was too short, so I tried something new as far as a spacer went. it's a 1/2 inch block of aluminum from a welding supply shop that I made fit. looks a little out of place in the picture, but matches the silver bolt pretty well, and makes it easier to tell my 1100 from the others at the range. I used a scroll saw and a belt sander. Plastic would have been easier to work with, but I thought this would look better on a fancy piece of wood.

Thanks, I bought that 1100 just because of the wood. It's a trap model from the 70's or 80's. It doesn't actually fit me that well, I have a hard time getting my head down low enough. The comb is really a little too high and I see too much rib and the 2 beads stack to make an 8, not line up to make an o, but adding the spacer helped some. I really need to take the comb down, but the wood is just so pretty and I'd never get the epoxy finish back right. I just aim a little low.

I did not hollow it out. I thought about it, but I didn't have the tools to easily make a nice circle, and because the the way the screw holes in the recoil pad lined up with the hole in the stock for removing the nut that holds the stock on, I had to get creative.

I had to countersink holes on the stock side of the spacer and set small nuts in them where the recoil pad screw were, then drill new holes further toward the top and bottom of the spacer and screw it to the stock. then bolt the recoil pad to the stock. It was more work than I expected, but I had a couple of weeks down time so it wasn't a big deal.

My understanding of trap is that you shoot with a premounted gun, and the purpose of the mid bead is so you can see if the gun is canted or otherwise off. In trap the figure 8 sight picture is preferred because most trap shooters want to aim at the bottom of the clay. So it would seem your gun fits you as it was intended, because it is a trap gun.

I think you did a great job on the spacer, I think it matches the gun well.

Yeah, but I shoot mostly hand thrown skeet with it and it shoots a little high for that. I know, I"m using a trap gun as a field gun, but it's just gosh darn pretty I had to have it :)
