I was wondering if anyone else has the issues that my dad has had with his he is on his 3rd shotgun now and luckily Remington was grudgingly kind enough to replace all of them for free but now they just replaced the reciever on the latest 2010 model, the problems have been split bolts, broken extractors, broken shell holders, broken link, and the list goes on for little parts, so i was wondering if anyone else has had any issues like this.

Good grief, what does he do for a living, demolition? Seriously, I don't know of anyone with anything close to similar issues. I have broken one extractor 29 years ago on 9 different 1100/11-87s over 48 years. Sometimes the bad luck vulture will perch on someone's shoulder. I know a guy who broke 3 different BPSs - a tough fine gun if ever there was one. He finally gave up and bought a Mossberg cause he liked the tang safety, and it worked fine, so he has been scared to change again for 20 years.

The 3.5" Remington 11-87's are not known for reliability. The standard 2.75 and 3" guns have a much better reputation.

He shoots nothing but standard 3.5 loads all day long thru it and remington had the nerve to tell him that yes its a 3.5in gun but its made for shooting 3in shells and on occasion a 3.5 shell.

I had the same kind of issue with a 3" 11-87 SP, though not to the extent that you have. I sold it and never buy centerfire Remington autos anymore. Solved my problem.

Sounds like the gun has been way under-engineered. No reason for a piece to scatter parts like that on factory loads.

I've been hearing the quality control has been going down with Remington. I own a couple of 870 expresses. They're not as well finished as a wingmaster. Like some people I did experience fired cases getting stuck in the chamber on one of them. I had to slam the stock on the ground and push down on the forend to clear this jam. The problem was fixed though after I put a chamber honing tool on my drill and smoothed out the chamber. It works perfect now even with the cheap walmart target loads. Other than that I think it will get smoother the more it's shot. I hope that Remington has eliminated most of their semi shotgun gremlins with the Versamax that they just came out with.

yeah i sit on his right in the duck blind and last time it dissentagrated i got smacked by somthing and it turned out to be the extractor, so im hoping next time it breaks for some non lethal schrapnel so i could possibly own a piece of remington.

Not with 3.5, but I was using 3" slugs for deer hunting and on about the 4th shot my ejector and bolt handle was ejected into a snowbank that I never did find. I took it back to the shop I got it at, he replaced it, and it did it again. I sold it the next week and I wont buy a Remington auto-loader ever again.
