I loaded up some 120 gr. V-Max for my 7mm rem. mag. recently and the results were amazing.A 70.0 grain charge of RL22 pushed those little projectile's at almost 3500 fps.. I have to say that Hornady didn't over state the performance on coyote's by any means. I shot 3 just a few hours of calling, with the farthest one at 491 yds.. and it exploded like a parie dog. I haven't seen anything like this with a bullet this large before. I usually go with a 100 gr. HP for this kind of action. But with the 120 gr. bullet I'm thinking longer shots are going be more practicle. It's more coefficient, which is delivering a better long reange trajectory than the 100 grainer's were. My Leupold RXIV B&C range finder is very accurately matching the ballistics for this bullet. At 500 yds. BDC which is provided in both MOA and inches has proven to be very accurate, with hold over being 22.4" zeroed in at 300 yds. I thought that was pretty decent for a 120 gr. projectile. Good for ballistics, bad for coyote's at extended distances!

in the uk the vmax is pretty much recognised as the class leader in varmining bullets. on the other side of the scale my cousin uses 55 gr vmax in his .223 on fox. he is also massively impressed.

When i 1st started hunting yote's I used some of the Hornady SST's in my .243 (95 gr) and decided shortly after to drop to their 58gr "varmint" as pelting a dog is MUCH harder when 1/2 it's front shoulder is blown apart,, yes i would agree the Hornady's do perform as advertised,, but yote's usually dont take more than a 60gr bullet to knock-em over,, would be like the time i had a skunk in my coon-trap and instead of using my .22 rimfire to dispatch him, I drew my PD gun (.357 Ruger) figuring i could dis-arm his stink bomb by severing it at the shoulders,, needless to say BIG MESS !!
