I've got an older Speer load book, #11, and it states a starting and ending load for the 124gr TMJ as 5.5gr to 5.9grs of Unique.

I've got the Hornady load book, and it lists multiple 124gr bullets, one of which is lead, and the loads for Unique do not go over 5grs.

So, the question is...
Is it safe to load 5.6gr of Unique behind a 124gr Total Metal Jacket Westcoast 0.355 diameter bullet for the 9mm?

Frohickey:

I regulary shoot 5.3 to 6.0 grains of Unique behind a 124 Zero FMJ in my S&W 952 as well as in a Trojan 6". I've found Unique shoots very accurately and clean with no signs of too much pressure. My #13 speer manual lists 5.8 of Unique as a maximum for 124 gr. jacketed bullets. I "borrowed" the 6 grain load from a poster on another forum and found it worked well. Your mileage in your guns may vary as well as all the usual disclaimers. Start low and work up.

My favorite 9mm load with 124gr bullets is 5.0gr of W231

4.5gr of W231 with 115gr. bullets.

HP or FMJ doesn't seem to matter both are accurate

Used both CCI or Winchester small pistol primers, again, both are accurate.

Brass? What ever I pick up at the range. 9mm brass is free.
