According to Hornady the HAP projectile was made primarily for the 38 super, essentially a big 9mm.
I have two 9mm pistols and a 38 super, problems have come with the barrel diameter of my Sig X5 9mm which is just under .355" very tight 9mm.
With doubts into firing these HAP bullets which are a good .356" in the tight Sig there is also very little data for the HAP and the 9mm including OAL being meant for the super not the 9mm, sure they are just XTP's without the expanding slits but consistent load data is difficult to find, especially with WW 231 powder, with data and OAL lengths having a spread of nearly a full grain of powder and nearly 90 thou seating difference from one user to the next.
Do I use the HAP projectiles in the tight Sig or get the right size .355" jacketed bullets, and yes I could get lead projectiles of any diameter but the accuracy of jacketed is I find generally better than lead and the added velocity is an advantage for steel.
