Hi all,

I picked up some 125gr SNS LSWCs and am looking for any recommendations for this in 38/357.

I have titegroup, bullseye, and trail boss powders available and both SP and SPM primers.

Shooting from an LCR 1.875 barrel length or and 1873 SAA clone with 4.75 length

I did not really care for the the 3.2 or 3.4 titegroup load in the LCR, shot way low and inconsistent (but some of that could be the shooter), while the 148 and 158 gr loads I have shot well in the LCR.

So was thinking of loading it up in 357 brass as a plinker load in the SAA under some TB. The only load I can find for this is 3.5 to 5.3 LRNFP and what I have are LSWC.

In general I think these numbers are interchangeable (lead for lead) if the weights are the same, you are seating in the cannelure and the base measures out the same length below the cannelure.

As long as I crimp in the cannelure, start low 3.5 and work up, I am thinking this wont be an issue, and should result in a low recoil load, especially with Trail Boss, but I am new to this so wanted to double check before proceeding.

Is anyone out there loading 125s in 357 with trailboss? Favorite loads?

Thanks for any advice or favorite loads with this bullet.

Your logic is correct, and these will be at the lowest end of the pressure spectrum anyways.

Now, where the problem for you lies is that the higher the velocity, the lower they will hit the target.

The other problem is that there is limited data for lead 125gr to work from.

Alliant site has a 38spl Bullseye load for a 125gr lead but it will likely shoot in the same place on your target as they are similar velocities to your Tightgroup load.

My suggestion for the future is to do light loads with 148gr wadcutters or 158gr semi-wadcitters as there is tons of data, and recoil is still near .22 rimfire level.

Thanks TimSr

I do have some 148 DEWCs and some 158 LRNs that I load light (2.7 and 3.0 Bullseye) and they work pretty good and hit POA.

I got a good deal on the 125s and picked them up thinking they might be lighter recoil so the wife could shoot the LCR. She still prefers her .380, not sure why, I think it is snappy, but she likes it so that is all that matters.

I did not like the low impact in the LCR, does not make for good practice in my SD revolver, so thought I would load them up for the 1873 as "cowboy" loads with Trail Boss or Bullseye in 357 brass and have some fun. Figured someone shooting CASS had done similar and I could use these 125s for mostly just plinking.

Thanks again.
