I am trying to find some good load data for the 140 gr accubond.I have been to the nosler site and thet dont list any loads for H4831 or H4831 sc.Anybody on here have a good recipe for this.Caliber will be .270,thanks in advance.

Agreed. Whenever I can't find bullet specific data. I use a similar bullet recipe and start approximately 5% to 10% below the minimum load listed. I will typically load 3 or 4 light loads gradually going hotter. I've never had any problems doing this for years and I think it's fairly common.

Yes it is Horsemany, except not to go below minimum charge limits. Could be asking for a stuck bullet.

My Lyman 48th Edition lists a Hornady 140 grain BTSP using H4831(SC) starting at 51.0 grains with a maximum of 58.0 (a compressed load) for .270 Winchester.

Start at 51 or 52 grains under your Acubond and work up (watching for high pressure signs) and you'll be just fine...

Thanks guys;

I am pretty much on top of all those suggestions.Been reloading for about 20 years.I was actually wanting to know if anybody knew where any info was on the 140 gr accubond and the H4831 sc.I have done the search mode on many reloading sites and outdoor sites-there just does not seem to be any published data that I know of.Thanks for the idea's . Ed

Thanks Kelbro;

I didnt know of that site.It was helpful.I normally shoot the 150 gr BT and can put all three inside a dime @ 100.The gun has been worked on and thats with my own handloads.I am trying to find some load data that will give me the same results without having to go through alot of different powders,primers etc etc.That is a nice site though.Thanks for your input. Ed

You're welcome. That's a pretty good database of user info. I use it for ideas. There is not anybody validating the loads there as far as I know. As I posted, start low and work up.

I have a good 140g Accubond load that shoots well in both my Browning A-Bolt and my son's Remington 700. I cannot remember if it was H4831SC or RL22 but I will check when I get home and post back up. It knocks those Texas whitetails down quick!

Just checked. 57.5g H4831SC grouped very well.

I will try the h4831 sc first at 57 gr and go from there.I know the book says 58 grs is max and yet I see people posting 59 and even 60.I have only done that a couple of times with ballistic tips and have gotten a few split necks.I switched from the 150 gr BT to the Accubond mainly becuz of the new law regarding being able to cross a fence in order to retrieve game.I have never lost anything after being shot with the BT,but they can go 100 or so yards,with the Accond they go about 2 feet-2 feet straight to the ground.Another reason I switched was for those times when I run across a good sized hog.No problem there either.I just cant believe there is no "published data" for the round.
