what do you guys think? a compact grendel up against an SPR?
Pure nonsense, the purpose ALWAYS matters.Doesn't matter what purpose.
That depends. There are quite a few PURPOSES for which the 5.56 would be a better choice. Varmints, be they ground squirrels or coyotes. Home defense, the 5.56 is plenty. Target shooting, unless you're shooting at extended ranges, the 6.5 'may' be viewed as wasted money. For plinking and shooting for fun, the 5.56 is without peer among centerfire rifle cartridges purely due to the cost of ammo/components.Across the board a 16" 6.5 Grendel with factory Hornady A-Max will eat a 5.56 18" SPR's lunch and ask for seconds.....
Oh yeah, you decide that for everybody, all by yourself???...and the price to shoot arguments is invalid.
I like the ASC mags, I prefer the 17 rounders. They don't get in the way when shooting in the prone. 17 rounds is plenty enough to get any job done, including home defense and they fit nice and comfy in a back pocket.beautiful rifles, what magazines do you prefer?
Thanks for the insight into the criminal mind.As for home defense. Ask yourself this. Put yourself in some idiot criminals shoes, if you had to choose between getting your ticket punched with a 5.56 or a 6.5 Grendel. I would imagine 9 out of 10 criminal morons would opt for a hit from a .223/ 5.56 rather than a 123gr A-Max or SST from a Grendel.

He said, "I've read on THR." That is different from the typical forums. If you would like to feel more at home regarding those, you should know that it is "you're" rather than "your".You've lived a sheltered forum life then. That's right , your "Guessing".
What's going on with the magazine release? Never seen anything like that.
I've investigated home defense shootings where the victim fired more than 17 rounds.I like the ASC mags, I prefer the 17 rounders. It's an extended release, don't know what brand. What's going on with the magazine release? Never seen anything like that.
It's one of Odin Works variants of magazine release extensions. I tried one of their first models when they first came to market and I liked the quality machining and the design. What's going on with the magazine release? Never seen anything like that.
I already own a 16" BCM 5.56 socom upper. I purchased a seekins precision keymod rail for my next upper build. I have access to purchasing a 16" 6.5 grendel barrel and bolt made by saber defense at a good price so thats a possibility. my only hang up is that it is an m4 contour. i'm looking for something to bridge that gap between my recce rifle and my 24" savage .308. I don't hunt big game but someday I may start to.
