16 and 28 Gauge Guns

I grew up in a time when the 16ga still had a place in the hunting world. I started with an old ithaca single shot. I still have my Leferver nitro 16 SxS. My grandfather gave it to me, so even though it almost never gets used, it remains as a treasured hierloom for me.
I shoot a lot of 28ga for clays. They are 2 of my favs to take to the range.

I would rather have quality European game gun in 24ga. Being cheap bastard I do not like to share my ammunition with anybody
PabloJ: if you truely are a "cheap Bastard" you oughta just shoot a 20ga and refuse to share!...lol.

As for 16 and 28 gauge guns, I own both and love them both. I'm partial to the 16 because it was the gauge of preference for my Grandfather. He owned one shotgun to do it all with, and back then ammo selection or availability wasn't an issue.

28 gauge is my favorite gauge, maybe because it is what I learned with and got my first pheasant with.

I recently acquired a Beretta 686 in 28 ga as an addition to my skeet gun. As long as companies make and sell target ammunition, I can reload all the hunting ammunition I need.

The only disadvantage to some 28 gauge guns is they are sometimes built on a 20 ga frame. This makes them heavier than necessary.
