I have a double barrel underlever 16 ga. pinfire that is in great condition. The question is, should I shoot it? I do not know it's value to a collector.

i would take it to a gunsmith to have inspected before you even think about putting a round in the chamber. if the smith says it's all good to fire then stick with low pressure loads of black powder only, not smokeless. these guns were built to handle the pressure of black powder and not the high pressure powder of today. also 16 gauge pinfire is going to be incredibly hard to find, and it won't exactly be cheap either. i highly recommend making your own cartridges, here's a diagram on pinfire ammunition if you need help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pin_fire.PNG and last but not least, you sir are very lucky to have come upon such a fascinating piece of firearms history, that is a really cool find man!
