I have hogs that come to my feeders that are as tall as the crank arm on my feeder and some of those have gone down to a .17, blew their insides all to pieces, I know they were well over #200, probably closer to #300. cant kill them fast enough, also provide bait for coyotes.:)

I almost wish that we had more wild hogs here in Iowa (there are some apparently), I'd love to shoot a wild pork chop!!!!

My .02 - no, too light to be ethical in most all circumstances. Use a .22 hornet or up, IMO, for yotes. .22 mag is better than .17 HMR, too.

17. is way to expensive for me. I seriously downgraded to a 22lr. (and a red ryder:D)I'v never shot one with it yet but I think the left eye should give DRT's.

Josh... I guaranty that you have lots of hogs. Look near water sources, or heck, anywhere near you side of the state that is near the Mississippi. You should have tons of them.

Call your state ag dept., and ask them where the hogs are, they will tell you.
or if you have a wildlife mgmt. dept.

the hmrs have much better accuracy than the other rimfires. A little practice, you will have no problem shooting them in the head at 100 yards. I'm not sure what kind of bullet you'd want to use for a yote.

here is one way to tell for sure; dude if you are driving down a 2 laner, or highway, or driving in front of some farming/ranching property, and you see oblong/circle-ish looking shapes in short grass, that appears about 5 to 10 feet in diameter, and all turned up, like someone took a plow to it, in just that circular spot, and you start to see several of those spots, you got hogs turning up your ground , baby!!!!

I like the 20 grainers for headshots, and heartshots, I like the 17 grainers for ear/neck shots, turns those parts into a blender...
